Country Style

It's funny, I keep on waiting for the other shoe to drop whenever I pull a Wicked title from my stack. After all, they can't all be this good, right? There has to be a dud in there somewhere. But I suspect I'll be waiting for that shoe to drop for a long, long time.

Country Style is an excellent film that follows the exploits of country ladies that go above and beyond the call of duty in the sake of "Southern hospitality." From the mechanic's shop to the diner, the stable, mines, a homestead or a local bar, these country girls know how to please their men, their customers ... and each other.

Each scene's broken up into short vignettes that start off with a nice tease (with narration by Kristen Price) setting up the scene to come. Aside from the narration and a great musical number at the start of the bar scene, there's no dialogue. Sometimes, all you need is the setting and your mind will make up the rest. It adds a nice uniqueness to the proceedings that is ultimately refreshing.

I honestly can't say which scene was my favorite, though the mechanic and homemaker scenes definitely stood out; Kirsten Price and Brooke are just so damn curvy and sexy that they deserved special mention.

The camerawork is beyond excellent. There's incredible clarity and sharpness, and usage of unique filters gives the scenes a dreamlike, fantasy element. I love heightened reality like this, and Country Style delivers.

The DVD is also packed with a ton of extras, in particular a very entertaining behind the scenes that shows off the fun and silly side of the cast and filmmakers. God only knows that I wish more adult films were like this.
