Fuck

Fuck
Midway through the movie, Fuck's narrator points out that there came a time when the equality between men and women suffered a shift in awareness; and at that point, women ceased to be man's partners in creation and instead became objects for his edification.

It's an important distinction that bears some scrutiny. Whether or not director Brad Armstrong realizes it, he's presented us a look at what we once were ... and also offers a sharp critique of what we have become.

Fuck takes its viewers through a quick history of fornication. Sounds pretty simple, right? And using a wide variety of spectacular set designs and fanciful costumes, Armstrong gives the viewer some erotically charged visuals. From the Age of Barbarians (where man first stumbled upon the notion of sex for sex's sake and not just as a means of procreation) to the Age of Machines (where a self-satisfied scientist creates his own woman), we witness the evolution of fucking in a series of spectacular set pieces that please the eye and pummel the senses.

As far as the promise of a storyline goes, there isn't one. This is really just a big budget gonzo flick (albeit a gorgeous one). Throughout, the film's narrator presents us with several shifts in the consciousness of sexuality between men and women.

As I pointed out earlier, Armstrong makes the convincing argument that the shift grew darker and darker as time marched on.

By film's end, men have transformed women from co-creator to bionic pleasure-bot. She moans and wails during sex, but we know that her owner programmed those responses into her. She is only chrome, cyberskin and wire. And the scientist who created her is, like Victor Frankenstein, disturbingly happy with his creation.
