Sacred Sin

Sacred Sin
Michael Ninn's latest opus, Sacred Sin, resonates with glam-horror imagery and some excellent lesbian sex. I don't know how many eyebrows this movie will raise -- it's too beautiful to stir much controversy -- but I chuckle to think of a prude's shocked reaction at the sight of a fully naked Sledge Hammer in terrifying demon make-up, leather and chains.

That said, I found the lesbian sex to be much hotter than the straight sex in this movie, and I'm not sure why. Maybe the lush settings served the all-female scenes better. In any event, star Heather Vuur has a three-way on a staircase in the middle of the movie that is filled with scads of lacy-lingerie naughtiness. It's also a little twisted, with two of the women in black mourning dress, and Vuur in a bowler hat and thigh-high stockings.

Eddie Van Halen also garnered Ninn's company a lot of press by writing two songs for this movie. They're both fine, but the best Van Halen stuff -- including an extended jam -- comes on the extras disk.

Van Halen also let Ninn shoot this movie at his home, and the palatial setting makes a huge difference.

Also worth mentioning is the sheer amount of nightmare and dream imagery. Corseted women spin in the air against a backdrop of lightning. A bride (Brooke) has sex in a gazebo. And the kicker: A Catholic priest gets his mouth and eyes sewn shut.

Ninn's demented influences include Ken Russell (Gothic), Derek Jarman (The Tempest) and Mark Romanek (many music videos, including "The Perfect Drug," by Nine-Inch Nails) -- and I'm delighted to see elements of their work all crammed into an adult flick like Sacred Sin. I can't say that this one is right for every couple out there, but if you like the directors I mentioned, I highly recommend Sacred Sin.

Starring A.J. Bailey, Dee, Heather Vuur, Jassie, Jean Val Jean, Jeremy Steele, Monica Mayhem, Nick Manning, Ruby Flame, Scott Nails and Sledge Hammer.

Extras include bonus sex scenes, five bonus solo scenes, a collectible booklet, a one-hour making-of featurette and two Eddie Van Halen Music videos.
