Skater Girl Fever

Skater Girl Fever
Ah, the 70s. I remember them well. The clothing, the attitudes, the music ... and of course, the skater girls. Even though I was but a wee lad, there was something about the satiny shorts and the white knee-high socks they wore that got me all tingly and squirmy without my knowing why. Dave Naz's film, which he directed for Vivid Alt, really evokes that decade and has some great things going for it. First, it's filled with some deliriously beautiful alt girls that evoke the spirit of the 70s; and the sex is really ... well, sexy here. And the sunshiny look of the film reminded me a lot of Spike Jonze's skater vids.

Naz, who was a working music and erotic photographer with four acclaimed photo books to his credit before he took up directing, captures some great footage, and the film reflects his sensibilities well. It's always interesting to watch a still artist work within a medium that relies on moving images; they either tend to lack the visual thrust that made their earlier work unique or they fall into the new genre with ease. I'm pleased to say that Naz' s work here is as visually evocative as his print stuff.

Naz does something interesting here to frame the entire piece: he simply records Nadia Styles and Christie Lee as they sit on a couch in preparation for their scene. Their banter and playfulness with each other set up some true sexual tension throughout the pic, leading up to a very erotic, very steamy scene between the two of them in which they get really nasty with Christie's chewing gum (I know that sounds weird but, trust me, you'll enjoy it a lot). The rest of the girls are all great, with Gia Jordan turning in one of the hottest scenes I've seen in a while.

Starring Charlotte Stokely, Nadia Styles, Christie Lee, Gia Jordan, Kimberly Kane, Faith Leon, Leah Luv, James Deen, Nat Turnher and Tommy Pistol.
