TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida attorney general’s office on Monday agreed to dismiss claims against payment processor Segpay in a lawsuit over alleged noncompliance with the state’s age verification law.
As XBIZ reported in September, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed lawsuits against both Segpay and Aylo with the 12th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, alleging noncompliance with HB3, the state’s age verification law. Violations of the law carry fines of up to $50,000 per individual violation.
On Monday, the Office of the Attorney General and Segpay together submitted a joint stipulation of voluntary dismissal.
Attorney Corey Silverstein, who represented Segpay in the case alongside fellow industry attorney Lawrence Walters, told XBIZ that he and his clients are glad the case was resolved in this manner.
“We are very appreciative that the Florida AG’s office worked with us to get a clear understanding of the real facts involved here,” Silverstein told XBIZ.
The suit against Aylo remains pending.
