Founder Holly Moss said the planning and logistics of running the board had become too consuming and that by refocusing on WIA’s original mission, the organization could return to its primary goal of providing a networking and empowerment resource for women working in the adult entertainment industry.
Moss also attributed WIA’s recent changes to challenges facing the adult Internet and a political climate dominated by social conservatism and special interest groups.
“We have a fantastic turnout at the parties,” Moss told XBiz. “If we could just concentrate on things we do best and leave the membership and job placement to the people who do that for a living, I think everyone would be happier.”
Effective immediately board members Rainey Stricklin, LoriZ, Britney Andrews, Rena Patel, Holly Ruprecht and Greg Piccionelli will no longer serve on the board.
“Our board of directors has served admirably and contributed to the shape and growth of the organization and we could not be where we are now without their insight and assistance,” Moss said. “It’s hard to believe how many goals we’ve hit in such a short time. They have set an extremely high bar.”
Additionally, WIA will no longer offer a separate members area on its website.
Moss said she will continue to build WIA’s membership roster of both men and women and send out newsletters.
WIA will be holding its next cocktail mixer next week at Internext on Aug. 7 at the Westin Diplomat from 4-6 p.m.
