Florida Congressional Candidate Running on 'Eradication of Porn'

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Congressional candidate Jessi Melton, a Republican from Boca Raton, Florida, has announced she is running on an "eradication of porn" platform.

Melton's press release calls "for the eradication of one of the industries she believes is complicit in the largest-growing criminal enterprise in the world.”

The War On Porn propaganda talking points Melton is using to campaign includes statements like "the overwhelming majority of adult film stars are victims of some form of sexual abuse, child molestation or human trafficking as a minor" and that adult performers "are victims, as are the consumers of the content itself."

According to Melton's avowed strategy, her "first step will be to stop entertainers from being paid to perform in pornographic films," claiming that performing in adult films is indistinguishable from "prostitution."

Melton is running against Democratic Representative Ted Deutch. Her Instagram bio describes her interests as "God, America, 2A."

"2A" is a reference to her support for the Second Amendment.

This is Republican congressional candidate Jessi Melton's full statement regarding what she calls her own "War On Porn":

The overwhelming majority of adult film stars are victims of some form of sexual abuse, child molestation or human trafficking as a minor. No one wakes up suddenly one day and decides they want to be in a pornographic film. They are victims, as are the consumers of the content itself.

We need to go after those who are profiting off of broken families, broken women and abused children, not the performers and consumers. It is destroying our women and our families.

Whether we target this industry at the state or federal level is yet to be determined, and it is important that we consider and respect our constitution throughout the process. — Jessi Melton
