Rotten DVD Launches $7.95 Online Retail

SEATTLE — New online adult video retailer Rotten DVD announced the launch of its discount online DVD store today, which sells thousands of titles all priced at $7.95.

Representatives at the company said Rotten currently has titles from 100 studios that encompass 35 different genres of adult film, including “Squirting,” “Four Hour” and “Classics.”

Well-known studio releases from Vivid, Sin City and Adam & Eve also are featured.

Co-owner Wes Doyel said the company guarantees DVDs purchased on the site before 4 p.m. PST will ship the same day via priority mail. Domestic orders are shipped at a base rate of $4.95 per item with a handling fee of $1.

Although the company currently does not offer discounts on bulk orders, Doyel said there are plans to offer free shipping for orders over $50 in the near future. A toll-free number and free DVD offers for new members also are in the works.

“We want to push the envelope in the online retail adult DVD industry by pushing a simple plan that offers as much variety as possible for the absolute lowest price and same-day service,” said Doyel. “We feel that our customers will reward us with a high volume of purchases that make our low margins sustainable.”

Rotten DVD offers its low-priced DVDs through one of three means: By obtaining films from a failed store, breaking even on an item to carry more product that could broaden the company’s appeal, or by buying an adult DVD that is no longer a new release with an accompanying price drop from a manufacturer.
