Streaming Tips for Traveling Cam Models

Ready to pack your bags, but wondering how to maintain your stream quality and keep regulars happy when you’re on the go? Life sometimes takes us unexpected places, but even when we do schedule and plan our travel with a meticulous itinerary, complications may arise if you plan your trip with the intention of “bringing along” your work.

Now, whether you’re a cam model or not, taking real time off to disconnect is highly beneficial and much needed. But let’s be real: traveling and seeing exciting new scenery is often a wonderful force for creative inspiration that a cam model is definitely capable of taking advantage of.

Ask yourself first if this really should be a “working” trip.

Why not invite your fans onto your Parisian terrace to sip wine and have a little fun? What about a “cam cabana” in a nude-friendly beach resort? The possibilities for “adult travels” definitely leave us breathless, especially after a year of COVID cabin fever!

However, if you want to take your show on the road in the literal sense, I have several important tips that all models should be aware of.

DON’T SKIMP ON PREPARATION

Ask yourself first if this really should be a “working” trip. If you promise your fans a certain kind of show from an exotic locale and discover that the place you’re staying is not well equipped or other logistical hurdles arise, then you don’t want to let everyone down.

If you do decide you want to cam “on location,” then definitely take the time to familiarize yourself with the destination and make notes for yourself about how you will cam, because unfortunately, it’s not always as simple as just securing a wi-fi connection.

MAKE SURE IT’S LEGAL TO CAM AT YOUR DESTINATION

Some countries are very anti-porn and anti-sex work. But did you know that in certain parts of the world, cam platforms can be outright blocked? You might be surprised at what countries do this. In order to circumvent this, you’ll need a reliable VPN client, which often costs money to subscribe to. However, for your own safety, just be sure you familiarize yourself with the laws of the land you are visiting and do not inadvertently run into trouble with local authorities.

Another note: If you are shooting content and planning on selling, don’t be so quick to assume your rental home is “safe.” True story: A certain major porn company landed in hot water when the owner of a home recognized her Martha’s Vineyard vacation home in an adult film and sued because she did not consent to allow filming; the court case is still pending.

Moral of the story? Use common sense and if in doubt, get consent in writing! Also, stay safe online by not disclosing too many specifics about your destination.

KEEP YOUR SURROUNDINGS ‘ADULTS ONLY’

Don’t plan on camming if this is a family vacation. The last thing you need is a call from social services if your cranky toddler wanders into an adjoining room, and obviously children of any sort should neither be seen nor heard while you are streaming. Consider booking your hotel room on an adults-only floor or staying at an adults-only resort so there are no accidental intrusions.

BRING PORTABLE TECHNOLOGY

Technology can vary depending on where you are. Some hotels and Airbnbs, for instance, do not have high connection speeds conducive to streaming. If you anticipate any issues with stream quality, be sure to let fans and regulars know in advance.

If you want to try and ensure your own connectivity, you might bring your own remote modem. If you have room, you should also try to pack a GorillaPod-type tripod and a portable ring light too. No decent stream ever happened with poor lighting and bad angles.

Also: don’t forget to charge any batteries or battery-operated devices. If the electricity is different in the country you are visiting (for instance, if you travel from the U.S. to Europe), then don’t forget that universal adapter and travel plug. You can also order them cheaply online.

Moreover, if you’re flying, be sure to pack your technology and show props responsibly, as you neither want them to “get lost,” nor end up being detained on the suspicion that your modem or vibrator is some kind of bomb.

EMBRACE THE ADVENTURE

As we mentioned in the beginning, travel can bring about the unexpected, as well as ignite your creativity, so it’s really important overall to remain open and flexible. Don’t stress yourself into oblivion over what you have no control over. If you find yourself bogged down by technical issues or cannot safely cam at your destination, don’t push it. Graciously communicate with your regulars, though, and explain what’s up and when you’ll be back at full streaming capacity. Also, even when you aren’t streaming live, take pictures — and we mean of the clothed, PG variety too!

Travel is a fun topic of conversation to enjoy with your regular fans, and it’s a great icebreaker for chatting up newbies too. Show them that gelato you had, or the ruins you visited, and maybe even consider sending your best clients a postcard or a small souvenir. No matter where your journey takes you, be safe and have fun.
