Finding Your True Aesthetic With Clips

Finding Your True Aesthetic With Clips

Have you ever wondered what would really make your clips stand out among all the rest?

While everyone is different when it comes to what they believe looks good, finding the style that coincides with your brand is very important. For me, nothing is better than looking at my profile and being really proud of the way everything flows together — the previews, the titles and the cover photo.

Having very simplistic backgrounds with pops of color can really take your content to the next level in my opinion.

Having very simplistic backgrounds with pops of color can really take your content to the next level in my opinion! Just a couple mesh sheets with lights in the background could make your video look like a million bucks for a very affordable price.

Keeping the camera in range of the background you set up is also very important to making your video look clean and polished. Like I said, though, everyone is different, it’s a good idea to keep in mind that as long as you’re happy with the way it looks, that’s all that matters. You want to be proud of what you have created; there is no better feeling in the world!

There are so many different ways you can add your own unique touches and aesthetic with just something small. Take plants for instance; just putting a little plant in the background could add a cute little touch that makes a huge difference. Over time, if that’s what you want, it will become part of your brand, something everyone associates with you.

Lights and colors can make such a big impact on videos as well and I highly recommend incorporating them. Everyone has a favorite color right? Maybe go with a color you really love and try to have it be present in your video one way or another. You could switch it up and make all your videos colorful or dark and dramatic! It’s all up to you, keeping it true to you and what makes you feel good when you look at it. Own it! It’s your brand!

Another thing you could do to really help your profile look polished is making your cover pictures for your videos similar in some way, whether it’s a title with the same font or color. If the title isn’t your thing, try following the same kind of theme so it looks nice and neat. Even if all you’re working with is a blank background, you can turn it into your brand aesthetic by simply wearing something that you have made your own. Cute and cuddly, dark and dramatic, both? Make it yours!

Wearing makeup or doing your hair in a way that’s on brand is a good way to build your empire as well. Make sure people remember you; you want to be the first thing your fan thinks about when they go to buy a video … whether it’s because they like your aesthetic, your attitude or even the way you shoot your videos! All of these things make you stand out, they make you, “you.”

Staying true to what you like and what makes you feel good is so important. There is nothing wrong with being inspired by someone else’s aesthetic, but you should try to mold it into your own so it’s authentic and it won’t seem forced.

When I first started making content, I used very low quality equipment, I filmed with a Logitech webcam and a desk light from Walmart for $10. I developed my aesthetic through a lot of trial and error, trying to figure out what worked for me, messing around with my backgrounds and having a clear idea of what I wanted everyone to see. Over time, I added and upgraded till everything felt perfect, but I’m always evolving with my background — always trying to make it look that much more polished.

So, if you don’t have the funds right away to create a whole setup, add one item at a time. Slowly but surely you will develop your very own style and it will all come together to make something you can really be proud of — your brand and your aesthetic!
