Q&A: Destiny Diaz Takes Crown for BBW Clip Artistry

Q&A: Destiny Diaz Takes Crown for BBW Clip Artistry

Oh-so-lovable, Destiny Diaz has that utterly charming blend of beautiful curves, delightful optimism and brilliant clip artistry.

With big beautiful sex appeal, she ranks among the top 100 MV Stars on ManyVids, her favorite platform for posting regularly updated (and fiery!) content.

Porn and entertainment is an escape, so I want to make that experience fun and positive for my followers.

From her “Tinder Tales” to her “Hoe Diaries” series, Diaz is always stepping up her ever-inventive game to engage a flock of loyal fans, who are super tuned in to her charismatic brand.

And given her well-earned status in the biz, she also happily offers up wisdom and earnest support to the community, whether she’s coaching a newcomer or giving a signal boost to a beloved colleague.

Now, she reigns as the Best BBW Clip Artist, following her ascendancy at the XBIZ Cam Awards in Miami this summer, continuing to rise high on sheer momentum.

To pay tribute to so exquisite a woman as Diaz, XBIZ is shining a spotlight on her as our Cam Star of the Month, in this exclusive interview.

XBIZ: What led you to become a clip artist?

Diaz: I was exclusively a cam model for my first two years, and throughout that time, I was constantly asked about videos. To ease into clips, my supporters suggested I start by recording my streams and editing that content for resale. So I did, and I couldn’t believe that I could make as much money offline as I was online.

At the time, I had my own website I sold them from, but it wasn’t long before PayPal shut it down. One of my supporters started recommending websites to upload and earn on, and that’s when I found ManyVids. Before then, I didn’t really know what quality I could achieve as an amateur artist. Seeing other performers produce aesthetic, scripted clips with storylines completely inspired me and I knew that I had found another passion!

I gradually invested in my productions by purchasing new filming equipment, lingerie, costumes, toys and whatever other props that sparked a video idea. I really wanted to not only make my fantasies come to life, but my fans’ fantasies too. I started collaborating with them and taking on custom clips, which really helped me build my library. Currently, I have over 380 clips, and yet I feel like I’m only scratching the surface of what I want to create.

XBIZ: Talk about your preferred platforms for selling and promoting adult content.

Diaz: ManyVids is my No. 1 for selling content. Their vision and mission really reflects my values and what I want for the industry. It’s model- and member-friendly, and it gives you opportunities to build a relationship with your supporters and peers with the social networking feel it has. It’s a one-stop shop that lets you sell and promote nearly anything. You can now live stream, manage your own subscription club and send out newsletters and flyers to your followers.

Their website, unlike many others, gives so many models a better chance at being found/discovered. MV’s innovation has really pushed the industry in a great direction, and I see a lot of existing clip and cam sites starting to focus on their relationship with their performers, tube sites included.

You can find my content on ManyVids, Streamate, MFC Share, iWantClips, Clips4Sale and Modelhub. I also have an MV Crush Club, OnlyFans, Snapchat and SextPanther! So, I do juggle a lot of platforms, and that’s not including my social media accounts.

With regards to promoting adult content, you really need to be creative these days with our social media blackout. For now, Twitter has been great, but it is getting more and more strict. I have been really focused on also creating SFW (safe for work) media to keep growing my social presence and I think that’s key right now.

XBIZ: How has creating clips transformed you, personally and professionally?

Diaz: Personally, I had an amazing creative outlet that was on my own schedule and terms. Finding my love for clips couldn’t have come at a better time. I was a new mom and wanted to spend more time offline with my family. I was able to strategically work on weekends and film as much as possible and then edit and release my clips throughout the week. Becoming a mother was just the motivation I needed to start taking my career more seriously too. I used to just do it for fun, but I never tried to push myself; paying my bills was enough at the time.

Professionally, clips took my career to the next level. After my first two years, I figured I was as far as I was going to go. For so long, I was really only utilizing one camming platform, which I had a decent placement on, and Twitter. Joining clips sites introduced me to a brand new audience. A huge one! My business and following grew so fast. The more inspired I was, the more I produced. The more I produced, the more I made. And eventually companies and retailers were reaching out to me, and I had a brand.

XBIZ: What is the “Destiny Diaz” brand in a nutshell?

Diaz: My fans know me as the naturally busty, long-haired, plus-sized angel with a love of balls. My fans are weak for a good blowjob with some intimate eye contact, and I’m a people pleaser. I love a good meme, but I love a good GIF even more.

Porn and entertainment is an escape, so I want to make that experience fun and positive for my followers. I want you to be able to come home from work, and disconnect from your busy and stressful life, log online and see someone who makes you smile, laugh and feel horny all at the same time.

I’m also really detail-oriented and organized, which has also led my brand in an amazing direction of helping others in our community. I know what it’s like to step into this industry thinking you have potential, but knowing you have a lot to learn.

Coaching and teaching is another big passion of mine. Growing up, I took instruction and leadership courses, and I coached within my sport. It’s so rewarding to help another performer find their place, and watch them blossom. I’m so proud to see my name up for awards in categories like Community Figure, Humanitarian and Miss Congeniality; it means I’m making a special impact on this industry.

XBIZ: Tell us about your approach to filming and editing video content, as far as gear, processes, scheduling and such.

Diaz: I try to put out on average one or two videos a week. I really hate sitting on content, so I usually edit and upload same day, although for special occasions I do stockpile and drop as a surprise to my followers. I’ll be investing in a few more cameras next year, because my Nikon D5200 is well-loved and has been discontinued. One thing I cannot live without is my ring light!

My process has been tweaked over the years and I’ve finally found what works for me. I’ll write a script outline and while I do prefer to improvise, if I’m having a blank moment, it’s great to have something to turn to as a backup. My partner sets up my space, so I can focus on getting into character and delivering a good performance.

After shooting, I go right to my office to edit, while he disassembles my set. If I’m editing a video, I plug in my headphones. If it’s a photo shoot, I usually listen to a podcast or have some show I’ve seen a thousand times playing in the background.

XBIZ: Discuss a few of your most popular video series, such as “Tinder Tales” and “Hoe Diaries.”

Diaz: “Tinder Tales” wasn’t my goal when I first signed up to Tinder. I was really just looking for one other co-star, but when I was swiped on by hundreds of people the first day, I thought “obviously, this is a series now.” Real reality porn is rare, and I wanted to create something different.

I’m not the first model to make Tinder videos, but what makes mine special is that they are somewhat formatted, but still innocent and authentic experiences. I had never even tried online dating before, and for my fans it was exciting to see me with other people. Interviewing my new co-stars on camera made them like characters on my show and made my fans feel connected to the encounter, and it felt like that for me too.

Turning and talking to the camera and thinking of all of my supporters watching made these sometimes awkward and nervous encounters easier, and made me feel way more comfortable. When I say formatted, I mean the episodes have repeating scenes, like the one-on-one interviews and the famous “dick reveal.”

It was great, because fans of the series could anticipate what was going to happen next, and some of the interview questions came from them! Essentially if a “Tinder Tales” episode goes well, they move into a part two series known as “Hoe Diaries.” Tinder Tales is more of a first and second base video, and “Hoe Diaries” is third base, or home run.

XBIZ: How do you promote sex-positivity and body-positivity, given your influential status in the biz?

Diaz: I think it’s my responsibility as a sex worker to promote sex-positivity. I like to think of my corner of the internet as a kink-friendly space. Allowing people to fully embrace their kinks is empowering. Because I am inviting non-industry members into my world, it’s also important for me to promote good sexual health.

I like educating my matches and followers on sexual health risks and encouraging everyone to get tested regularly. I try to lead by example and show myself getting tested and having an open conversation about it. I had a potential co-star say that getting tested was awkward. You know what’s more awkward? Telling all of your partners you’ve contracted something.

I never thought I couldn’t do something because of my body size! I wasn’t consciously promoting body positivity, but I realized that in that mindset, that’s exactly what I was doing! Sex work is full of people from all walks of life. The most important thing you can do is work with what you have.

XBIZ: What was it like attending XBIZ Miami this year and winning Best BBW Clip Artist at the XBIZ Cam Awards?

Diaz: It was a dream come true. There were many times where I just wanted to pinch myself on that trip. Am I really on a rooftop balcony at a White Party with some of the most beautiful people in the world? Am I really sitting alongside industry icons on a panel in front of my peers? It was so nice to sit outside in the Miami heat with the companies I’ve been representing for years, mingling with the kind and talented people I love online. I felt so lucky to be there.

I attended the awards show as a top nominee, meaning I was tied for most nominations. I was ecstatic to win Best BBW Clip Artist, because clips have been my main focus for a long time, but over the last year I really transformed my content and really stepped outside of my comfort zone, so it was surreal. I panicked on stage looking at the most beautiful audience in the world, and just said thank you and walked off, but the moment I sat back at my table, I just bawled like a baby and later expressed my gratitude to my supporters individually! This win was huge!

XBIZ: Who are you inspired by in this industry, and which creators are you proud to call friends?

Diaz: I’m really inspired by work ethic, by performers who are well-oiled machines. Reya Sunshine, Korina Kova, Romi Rain, Jenny Blighe and Ella Silver come to mind, and I would consider all of them friends. Some of my closest friends inspire me in a completely different way, not that they aren’t also hustlers, but Lydia Love and Vera Sky offer me a friendship doesn’t have any expectations. They are always there to give great advice, check in on me and even approve a photo to post. I value a low maintenance genuine friendship with people who want to see you shine.

XBIZ: Any exciting plans for the upcoming year, to take things to the next level?

Diaz: I have a lot of ideas for upcoming content, I don’t know if I’ll ever run out of ideas. I have a new game show series coming next year. I have new characters and themes I’d like to explore. I’ve also been chatting with some really amazing mainstream male talent about collaborating. The Tinder hookups are fun, but I kind of want to see what a professional pounder will be like! But ultimately, I like to keep upcoming plans secret, because I love dropping hints and building up the excitement for things in a special Destiny Diaz kind of way!
