Q&A: Industry Vet Alicia Sinclair Talks Premium Brand Le Wand

Q&A: Industry Vet Alicia Sinclair Talks Premium Brand Le Wand

Premium brand Le Wand made its debut at the XBIZ Retreat in January, with the unveiling of its flagship product, the Le Wand Rechargeable Vibrating Massager. Boasting a range of high-end features and a versatile design, the Le Wand massager presents a fresh, stylish reinvention of the classic bestselling design. Additionally, with 2017 XBIZ Exec Award winner for Businesswoman of the Year Alicia Sinclair at the helm, the brand is on its way to reinventing the wand massager category — much like she did for Le Wand’s sister company b-Vibe.

As credentialed sexpert, Sinclair last year took on the taboo category of anal toys to launch b-Vibe, a premium brand of butt plugs. A sister company to Le Wand, Sinclair aims to take the same approach to redefining the popular wand category.

Le Wand speaks to women. It presents the wand massager in the most flattering way and feels like a sexy piece of art that is meant to be loved. -Alicia Sinclair

“While historically wand massagers have been marketed as non-sexual devices, Le Wand is fully embracing intimate pleasure,” Sinclair said in a press release. “As a sex-positive, female-founded company, Le Wand is redefining the wand massager — a staple pleasure product for women — with premium features, attachments and accessories that will satisfy a wider range of pleasure palettes.”

In our special Q&A with Sinclair, who is also a 15-year vet of the sexual intimacy industry, she tells us more about her innovative approach to branding and marketing to redefine the wand category with a sex-positive message that embraces consumers of all genders and sexual preferences.

XBIZ: What are some common misconceptions about wand massagers that Le Wand aims to debunk?

Sinclair: We wish to dispel the misconception that wand massagers are only for female bodies, that they are for solo use only, and the most common misconception of all — that vibration can cause long-term sensitivity loss.

XBIZ: How does Le Wand stand out in the marketplace?

Sinclair: Le Wand is a stylized, fresh, and sexy approach to an all-time, best-selling sex toy. This premium product collection, is 100 percent body-safe, has a powerful rechargeable battery, includes a travel case and multiuse texture cover, and arrives luxury, gift-able packaging.

The Le Wand collection offers innovative accessories designed with pleasure and satisfaction in mind. Our silicone attachments include weighted balls inside the silicone for a fuller sensation, stronger transmission of vibration, and the ability to heat and cool with warm or cold water. I’ve also created multi-use, disposable “Texture Covers” that slip on to the top of the wand to vary sensation. There is nothing like this currently marketed for wand use.

I’m committed to beautiful point-of-sale presentation and we offer truly gorgeous displays and merchandising materials to enable sales at the retail level.

XBIZ: What inspired you to launch Le Wand?

Sinclair: Wand massagers have always been one of my personal favorite sex toys. The design process was a personal journey into creating a product that reflects the innovation and style I’ve always longed to see in this category.

XBIZ: What inspired the collection’s name?

Sinclair: The French language is sensual and sexy. I wanted Le Wand to feel like this as well.

XBIZ: How involved were you in the designing of this line?

Sinclair: I worked on every aspect of the design process of Le Wand from initial concept of the wand and accessories, to the travel case, packaging, logo, catalogs, website… You name it. This line is a personal labor of love and I’ve been involved in every step of the process.

XBIZ: What do you think draws a customer to a product — aesthetics or functions?

Sinclair: I believe that elegant design is easier to translate to a consumer than product function, but ultimately it would be my preference to combine design and function rather than choosing one over the other.

XBIZ: What was your inspiration for Le Wand’s aesthetic?

Sinclair: I was inspired by luxury cosmetics and high-end beauty tools.

XBIZ: Could you offer more information about the Le Wand attachments?

Sinclair: Our Weighted Silicone Attachments provide intense targeted stimulation and an amazing feeling of fullness. We offer two styles - Curve and Ripple.

Curve is perfectly shaped for G-spot stimulation. It has a sweeping shape that is precisely weighted in the bulbous tip, making it firm and especially satisfying. There is also an external contact for clitoral stimulation.

Ripple is designed for the blended orgasm (clitoral and vaginal orgasm) by offering intense pleasure during “in and out” motion and an external contact for clitoral stimulation. This attachment features ripples along the insertable portion for intense sensation and provides a feeling of fullness from the weight.

XBIZ: What can we expect from Le Wand in the future?

Sinclair: There’s some thought to add additional attachments or accessories, but nothing in the coming year. Le Wand is dedicated to promoting sexual wellness and pleasure with engaging branding and marketing that offers a fresh, sex-positive take on the popular wand massager. The future of Le Wand includes over 25 articles dedicated to providing comprehensive information about everything from anatomy, position guides, to dispelling common myths about wand use.

XBIZ: What are some of the features of the Le Wand Vibrating Wand Massager?

Sinclair: Le Wand features 10 distinctive, rumbly vibration speeds and 20 vibration patterns. The sleek design provides focused vibration in the head of the wand. The battery is very powerful and three hours of charge will result in three hours of use. Le Wand can be used globally, as we offer plugs compatible for use in Europe, North America, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The collection has CE and RoHS certifications.

XBIZ: What sort of feedback has Le Wand received from retail buyers?

Sinclair: The feedback has been overwhelmingly strong. I was somewhat surprised myself, because there are so many wands already available on the market. Le Wand speaks to women though. It presents the wand massager in the most flattering way and feels like a sexy piece of art that is meant to be loved.

XBIZ: Discuss the POS and merchandising materials that Le Wand offers. How will it stand out on retail store shelves?

Sinclair: We offer two merchandising plans for point of sale. The first plan includes a branded acrylic stand to showcase the wand and marble acrylic brand block. This flexible design gives the retailer the ability to display Le Wand in a variety of different locations and is especially useful for display cases or smaller spaces.

Our second option is the Deluxe Counter Display. This beautiful 13.5” W X 10.5” H marble tone display was designed to be placed on a shelf. It features a gold foil logo and with descriptive text and key selling points. Also included is our branded acrylic stand to showcase the wand.

The sleek, alluring design draws customers in and feels special from first glance. Le Wand displays embody a luxury aesthetic that stands out amongst the competition.

Guiding Shoppers With Clear Pleasure Education

One of the most valuable skills in pleasure retail isn’t persuasion — it’s translation. Customers often arrive curious but cautious, unsure of terminology, functions or even what questions to ask. Turning Fantasy Fans Into New Creature Play Shoppers

Adult “creature play” is no longer just a niche novelty. There’s even a term for this kink: teratophilia, meaning sexual attraction to monsters. A heady mix of sensory novelty, curiosity about unfamiliar bodies and potential power dynamics has made lusting after and role-playing mythological creatures more widely accepted. The erotically captivating allure of otherworldly beings has even become prevalent across pop culture, from “True Blood” and “The Shape of Water” to Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein” and “monster boyfriend” romantasy literature trending on TikTok.
