Kink.com to Release Content in HD Quality Resolution

SAN FRANCISCO — Adult online content producer Kink.com will release all new content in 720p starting today. Members of Kink.com sites can view the improved high resolution content in both WMV and MPEG formats.

Kink.com public relations manager Thomas Roche told XBIZ that when watching the same video clip on side-by-side monitors, comparing a video clip that had not been improved and one encoded in the new HD format, the difference was remarkable. Small details like beads of sweat and other textures were visibly enhanced.

“It’s almost like you could reach out and touch it,” Roche said.

Technicians at Kink said the format change offers a roughly 50 percent jump in vertical lines of resolution and a significant improvement in image quality with only a small increase in download times.

"Kink has been releasing in high definition for two years, so the content was already about the best available," Kink.com’s encoding engineer Nicole Aptekar said. "But this takes it to a whole new level."

"Over the next few months we'll be re-encoding all our high-def releases in the new format. We'll also be re-encoding our standard definition content in what's called 480p,” Aptekar added. "We'll get them to the highest quality possible, almost like they're right off the tape. It'll look good on an iPod — it'll look good on an iPhone, a Zune, an Archos, just about any mobile device."

The first encoded scenes will be available in the members’ areas of Kink websites TSSeduction.com, Hogtied.com and UltimateSurrender.com.

HD format scenes on the rest of Kink.com’s roster of sites will soon follow, including content for FuckingMachines.com, WhippedAss.com, WiredPussy.com, MenInPain.com, WaterBondage.com, SexAndSubmission.com and Device Bondage, as well as Kink's documentary series BehindKink.com.

Though all future content will be released in the HD format, Kink said it will take several months to re-encode previous content in order to improve resolution.
