xHamster Viewing Data Reveals Polar Vortex 'Too Cold for Porn'

LOS ANGELES — xHamster has released video viewing data that reveals the recent Polar Vortex winter weather emergency was “too cold for porn.”

The Polar Vortex occurred in the Midwestern United States last week, blanketing the region with frigid blasts of Arctic air, with xHamster data showing some seemingly surprising trends.

According to the company, its data team saw a decrease in viewership from the previous week in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin — areas all hard-hit by the Polar Vortex.

The only affected area where traffic to xHamster did grow during this time was the state of Minnesota, which saw a 10 percent uptick in visitations to the popular site.

“Oddly enough, the Polar Vortex did not turn people on in the Midwest,” xHamster VP Alex Hawkins says, noting, “People were too cold to watch porn, which is normally not the trend we expected.”

“With the temperatures plummeting to as low as 60 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit) in some areas,” Hawkins adds, “we would imagine people have one thing in mind: staying warm.”
