LOS ANGELES — xHamster notes that there are significant search and traffic trends relative to Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.
First off, traffic is sucky. xHamster said that there’s a lull in traffic every year on Thanksgiving Day, which occurs on Thursday.
“In the U.S., Thanksgiving tends to be the day of the year when traffic falls most dramatically,” said Alex Hawkins, xHamster’s vice president. “It’s a combination of very little privacy, lots of travel and the redirection of blood flow to the stomach.
“However, after the meal is over — traffic seems to rise.”
But when users jump online, they tend to check out key Thanksgiving words — like gravy or mashed.
“People don’t think of Thanksgiving as a sexy time; the pilgrims weren’t exactly libertines,” says Hawkins. “But for some reason, Thanksgiving produces a real love for gravy.
“Unsurprisingly, we see an increase in ‘family searches’ during the holidays. Thanksgiving brings together blended families more than other holidays, with stepsisters, stepmothers and other more distant relations at the table.
