ASACP to Discuss Age Verification, New Initiatives at QWEBEC Expo

MONTREAL — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has announced its participation in the 15th annual QWEBEC Expo, slated for Tuesday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 3, at the Novotel Montreal Hotel.

Held in Montreal, QWEBEC Expo’s promoters say this annual B2B event acts as an international crossroads for U.S., Canadian and European members of the industry, providing website owners, operators, and webmasters with the information and resources they need to build, maintain, promote, market and grow a successful internet business.

ASACP has participated in QWEBEC Expo since the show’s inception — delivering a message of proactive corporate self-regulation in the interest of online child safety, to this international group of adult entertainment professionals.

QWEBEC Expo is generously providing ASACP complimentary admission to the event, plus an ad in the event’s show guide, a booth on the show floor where informational materials will be available, and a table at the popular “Meet Market” networking event.

“QWEBEC Expo is honored to support ASACP and RTA again this year by giving them as much exposure as possible,” says event organizer Michael Plante. “Tim and his team are doing a tremendous job of helping mainstream audiences understand that the legitimate adult industry community has no links to CP and is fighting this heinous crime against children.”

ASACP’s Executive Director, Tim Henning, will attend the event as part of the association’s commitment to international outreach, issue education, and advocacy.

“ASACP uses events such as QWEBEC Expo to help educate relevant businesses about the need to protect children online, and how free ASACP services such as the Restricted To Adults (RTA) website meta-label, Best Practices and Code of Ethics, help accomplish this,” Henning says. “QWEBEC Expo attracts a global audience of professionals that includes representatives of many Canadian companies — among the digital media industry’s largest and most vibrant — making this a ‘must-attend’ event for the association.”

On Wednesday, August 1, from 1-1:25 p.m., Henning will participate in a timely workshop on “Current Child Protection Issues & Age Verification” in the Algarve Room, which will examine current child protection issues facing the online industry with an emphasis on age verification.

Henning will be joined by AgeChecked CEO Alastair Graham, with the session addressing issues of new legislation targeting online age verification, adult content blocking and beyond, revealing strategies and tools to help ensure minors stay far away from adult entertainment.

“A big part of ASACP’s mission involves governmental and industry outreach, with sessions such as this providing a vital touch point between the association and various stakeholders,” Henning concludes. “Attending QWEBEC Expo enables us to reach a global audience of adult entertainment companies and frontline operators to make a tangible difference in the fight for online child safety.”
