N.J. Group Offers $1.15M for RegisterFly.com Domain

NEWARK, N.J. — Online tech publication The Register has reported that it has seen a copy of a letter sent to RegisterFly CEO Kevin Medina, offering him $1.15 million for ownership of the RegisterFly.com domain registrar.

Cogit Group, a tech-focused consulting firm based in New Jersey, is the company said to have offered to buy out Medina's company.

Cogit's Paul Krieg told XBIZ, "There is no definitive agreement, and anything beyond that would be speculation."

Medina was unavailable for comment at press time, and ICANN attorney Samantha Eisner had no comment.

RegisterFly was recently required by a court order to turn over all of its customer data and domain registry information to ICANN, after the registrar broke its contract by refusing to hand over accurate and timely information previously requested by ICANN.

ICANN terminated Registerfly's accreditation in early March after an internal dispute resulted in an influx of customer complaints.
