Webmasters do not have to be affiliates of Sexy Ads to utilize Clix ShaveWare, which claims to give accurate traffic stats across multiple campaigns and programs.
Championed by SexyAds Director of Special Projects Jack Mardack, ShaveWare is a script that webmasters download onto their server that keeps real-time statistical analysis of all hits to sponsor links. The program’s interface does not impose a tracking limit, so webmasters can use the script for all the traffic they send to sponsors.
The impetus behind the tracking script is affiliate empowerment, Mardack explained.
“We wanted to provide a simple tool that would both shed some light on what shaving is and give webmasters a way to obtain their own data,” Mardack told XBIZ. “This will keep program owners on their toes.”
While Clix ShaveWare does not seek to act as the “be all end all” resource for webmasters to decide if their sponsor programs are shaving, Mardack says the company hopes to incite discussion among webmasters, get them to ask questions and become more involved in the traffic they send out.
“We think it’s going to be a process of education before the problem of shaving is properly addressed by the community,” Mardack said. “Our hope with this tool is to stimulate dialog and to get affiliates to start thinking.”
Clix ShaveWare also gives webmasters the ability to gauge their traffic performance with a given sponsor. If a webmaster sees they’re sending a lot of traffic to a program that doesn’t convert, they can easily adjust their campaigns and traffic strategy by analyzing Clix ShaveWare data.
“If webmasters begin to lessen their reliance on program-delivered stats, they can take an important step in demanding fair, ethical and honest treatment from [sponsor programs],” Mardack said. “[Clix ShaveWare] lowers the common denominator of information to a level that is going to include many more webmasters. That is the hope and our simple objective.”
