WASHINGTON — Woodhull Freedom Foundation is hosting a Pride Month virtual edition of its series “Fact Checked by Woodhull.”
According to a rep, the edition will address myths about the transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) community. Panelists will include Harrison Browne, Tre’Vell Anderson, and Laura Jacobs.
“The myths our writers and researchers debunked were based on current policies targeting TGNC people,” said the rep. “These represent just a fraction of the harmful lies TGNC people are subjected to when trying to work, advocate, and live.”
Woodhull Freedom Foundation president and CEO Ricci Levy elaborated on the edition.
“False narratives are being used to justify discrimination, restrict access to healthcare, limit participation in public life, and undermine fundamental human rights of trans and gender nonconforming people,” said Levy. “We believe facts matter — especially when people's dignity, freedom, and safety are at stake.
“Through 'Fact Checked by Woodhull,' we're confronting some of the most persistent and damaging myths about transgender and gender nonconforming people with facts, research, and lived experience,” Levy added. “During Pride Month we must channel the activist roots of Pride to challenge disinformation, defend human rights, and ensure that everyone has the freedom to live authentically and safely.”
The episode will livestream Tuesday, June 30, at 3:30 p.m. (EDT). To register for the free event, click here.
