Stagliano Jurors View 'Milk Nymphos'

WASHINGTON — Jurors on the first day of the John Stagliano obscenity trial viewed a 50-minute scene from “Milk Nymphos,” one of the movies cited by federal prosecutors as obscene.

It was nearly silent for most of the courtroom's audience because only the jurors, attorneys, court authorities and two selected members of the media were given headsets to listen to the scene performed by adult stars Lorelei Lee, Annette Schwarz and Jon Jon.

Prior to the introduction of "Milk Nymphos," prosecutors called FBI special agent Daniel Bradley to the stand as a witness. Bradley testified that in January 2007 FBI agents learned that Stagliano’s production company was distributing films that depict "violence, bondage and squirting" and the FBI began an investigation to determine whether any laws were violated.

Bradley laboriously detailed his investigation of the ownership of websites EvilAngel.com and EvilAngelDirect.com, whose domain names were registered to EA Production of California. He stated there were other domain names registered to EA Production, but those were the two sites the FBI focused on.

Bradley testified that using an IP address that could not be traced to the government he ordered “Milk Nymphos” and “Storm Squirters 2” from Baltimore-based BTMMailOrder.com under the alias Dan Mason. When asked by prosecutor Pamela Satterfield why he selected those two particular videos, Bradley replied that based on a review of the DVDs descriptions he chose them because they “emphasized execratory function and squirting.”

Other exhibits of the government’s case were presented, including the UPS box the DVDs arrived in and the receipt for the movies.

Satterfield also displayed to the jury the front and back cover of “Milk Nymphos.”

When 50 minutes of “Milk Nymphos” screened, several members of the jury did, at times, appear to look away from the screen.

The question of who would get to listen to the audio portion of the videos became an issue for members of the media. Judge Richard Leon indicated he would only allow two members of the credential local media to obtain headsets.

Prior to the start of the afternoon session, Richard Abowitz, reporting for Reason magazine, passed a note to Leon signed by several other members of the media covering the trial, requesting wider access to the audio accompanying the videos.

The judge addressed the note by saying he was not going to grant the request and that he had taken what he considered to be the “highly unusual step” of providing headsets to some members of the credentialed media, and it was up to them to “work it out amongst themselves” who would get to listen in.

Originally headsets were provided to reporters from the National Law Journal and the Washington Examiner, the only two credentialed local media in the courtroom. But the reporters shared their headsets to other members of the media in attendance by passing them along.

Prosecutors indicated they intend to have Bradley summarize the remaining scenes from “Milk Nymphos,” perhaps play another 30 minutes of footage as well as the trailer to "Fetish Fanatic 5.”

The defense indicated it plans on calling one witness in addition to the defendant.

The trial resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m.
