Zocku.com Offers Adult Network Builder, Fills Ning Void

LONDON — Looking to fill the void left by Ning.com, a new startup called Zocku.com wants to help users build and monetize their own adult social networks.

Both Ning.com and Zocku.com provide a host of services and tools to help the average web surfer build a fully fledged social network, complete with personal profiles, private messaging and a message board.

But earlier this year, Ning.com told all of the adult social networks on its servers to get out. They defined "adult" with a wide net. Of the approximately 675,000 social networks hosted on Ning, only about 1 percent were adult.

In addition to social networking tools, Zocku.com also provides an API so that more enterprising developers can build their own applications. Like Ning.com, Zocku.com offers both free and paid options. The paid option on Zocku.com costs $49.99 per month and includes a slate of enhanced features, along with increased hard disk space.

According to Zocku.com representatives, they're already hosting hundreds of adult social networks. One proprietor, Tim Morton, runs the gay social network Ruffkin.com and had kind words for Zocku.com.

"My network, Ruffkin.com, has increased functionality, more value added benefits, and as a result my membership base has more than doubled since Ruffkin.com moved to Zocku.com," he said. "The affiliate income has also increased exponentially. The move to Zocku.com has created a more complete and satisfying experience for Ruffkin's members. Zocku's admin section has eased the demands of running a social network compared to every platform I tried in the past."

For more information, visit Zocku.com. Users can try out the new service for 30 days.
