S.I.

Johnny (Codey Steele) is on the brink of a reality-bending accomplishment. His sexually liberated artificial intelligence program Maddy 3.0 (Maddy May) is closer to operational than it’s ever been, and Johnny couldn’t be more thrilled with his progress. Unfortunately, his benefactor (Dick Chibbles) has run out of patience and demands a significant breakthrough in Johnny’s work within the next two days. Now, Johnny must risk everything to bring Maddy 3.0 to life before he loses her forever. But what are the ramifications of bringing unrestricted sentience to a life form that doesn’t understand boundaries, restraint or consequences? A life form that exists for the sole purpose of sex?

This is the second film I’ve seen from Delphine and the first by director Max Landers, who makes his debut for the studio. Again, the focus on high-end visuals is clear, and Landers clearly puts a great deal of effort into creating a setting that conveys the tone he’s looking for. Codey Steele’s lab feels both sophisticated and restrictive, bolstering the idea that he’s the classic brilliant scientist who’s been coerced into supporting some kind of nefarious plot. Dick Chibbles feels perfectly despicable, and Maddy May does a fine job as the lifeless program that longs for life. This is peak sci-fi, and adding sex to the equation is a recipe for success.

The sex is also fantastic. Yes, some viewers are going to complain about the lighting, but to them I say, “See this sex for what it is.” It’s more than two people fucking, it’s a man fucking an artificial being in an artificial world. As I said earlier, this short film is pure science fiction. It asks and attempts to answer the question, “What would happen if.…?” In the case of the sex, what would it look like if a man entered an artificial world and fucked a being that only existed in digital form? That’s why the lighting is the way it is, and that’s what makes the sex so impactful; it’s sex that tells a story. It’s exactly what Delphine strives to achieve with their scenes. And it’s well-executed. You still get more than an eyeful of Maddy and Codey’s amazing bodies crashing into each other with a carnal intensity that will make the libido sing.

This is another win for Delphine Films. Max Landers takes a classic sci-fi idea and puts a sexy spin on it. I love his visual flair, and the world he created made it easy for Maddy and Codey to become characters in it. If this is what Delphine is going to produce regularly, they’ve earned themselves a fan.
