Q&A: ImMeganLive Evolves Into Content Creatrix Supreme

Q&A: ImMeganLive Evolves Into Content Creatrix Supreme

ImMeganLive ascended to the top 10 of ManyVids in 2020, which was no small feat. Between the massive online traffic surge during the pandemic from consumers and the influx of newly-minted content creators entering the adult industry, to break into such lofty ranks on one of the biggest content-selling sites in the world was a testament to her successful business strategies.

Of course, climbing to the top of the mountain is challenging enough, but staying there in peak condition is even tougher. Nonetheless, thanks to her tireless work ethic, a deep love for actionable analytics and a consistent content output for fans across a diverse array of revenue streams, ImMeganLive did not slip. In fact, her MV Star rank is now in the top five, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

Even if sometimes I have ideas or get custom requests that are very similar to what I’ve already done, I never produce a video with the exact same scenario twice.

See, ImMeganLive is a methodical businesswoman — and a well-oiled machine — who first began gingerly dipping her toes into adult in 2014 after seeing how successful a friend of hers was. After quitting her full-time mainstream job and initially focusing on camming, she then submerged herself more fully in the adult creator economy, producing clips and discovering the gold mine of custom videos in 2016. Bit by bit, hour by carefully-scheduled hour, ImMeganLive ticked upwards in her earnings and popularity, with thousands upon thousands of adoring fans clocking in to watch her every performance, be it live or recorded. Now, she rises even higher as XBIZ Clip Star of the Month for October 2021, opening up about her journey and aspirations in this exclusive interview.

XBIZ: Discuss what led you to pursue a career in adult entertainment.

ImMeganLive: A friend of mine was involved in the industry, so I got to see what it was like behind the scenes, learned how to be successful and thought that maybe I could actually make a living out of it as well. I slowly started in 2014, then the following year, I quit my full-time job to become a dedicated cam model. I began producing clips in late 2016 when I received my first custom orders and gradually began shooting my own projects, adding them on different clip sites. I’ve kept myself busy doing both camming and producing videos since then.

XBIZ: How do you split your time across multiple platforms and revenue streams?

ImMeganLive: Trying to hit multiple targets at once never worked, so I schedule different time slots per revenue stream. I plan ahead for different work shifts for camming, streaming multiple sites at once. For customs and video shoots, I plan specific days in the week to better optimize my time; if it happens to be a quiet cam day, I sometimes move things around and start shooting instead.

XBIZ: Describe your overall strategy for rising to such a high ManyVids rank.

ImMeganLive: Reaching top 10 on ManyVids in 2020 was not an easy task and it’s been even harder to stay there since then. There are so many amazing clip artists. I don’t believe in having a special recipe for success; what I do, though, is stay up to date on trending content searches and popular requests. Then I make sure to focus on that type of content and add my special touch.

I try to stand out from the crowd by creating original content, stories people can relate to and enticing fantasies. Also, video thumbnails and trailers, I believe, are one of the most important strategies in order to catch the eye. It’s all about that first click. Finally, consistency is key. I release two new videos every week to keep fans wanting and getting more.

XBIZ: What kind of content do your fans request the most?

ImMeganLive: Taboo roleplaying, “family” relations and impregnation are definitely the most popular requests at the moment. As far as sexual acts, penetration ending with a creampie is on top of the list.

XBIZ: How often do you experiment with new scenarios or looks?

ImMeganLive: Even if sometimes I have ideas or get custom requests that are very similar to what I’ve already done, I never produce a video with the exact same scenario twice. I always add, change or modify it in order to have different twists, making it more original. I also like to pile up ideas and custom orders and then rent an Airbnb to change the dynamic, look and feel of the videos, mass-producing them during a long weekend. Once every two months, on average, I try to rent a new place.

XBIZ: Tell us your approach to analyzing earnings, social media metrics and other stats in order to stay organized and set goals.

ImMeganLive: I really love statistics. I’ve built myself a very detailed Excel sheet in order to keep track of my earnings through different sites. It provides me with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly stats. Looking at numbers makes it easier to understand where to focus my energy. I set myself monthly goals (realistic ones based on months from prior years), because daily or weekly goals are irrelevant to me; longer terms are better for adjusting yourself to reach them.

Regarding social media metrics, every time I do a post, I look at the stats to see what worked and what didn’t and try to learn from that, but it keeps evolving and changing all the time; I only make sure to go up and not down. Organization-wise, I love using Google Keep and use those checkbox lists; it’s so satisfying to check them as you work your way through them. Finally, Google Calendar, using reminders and scheduling my cam hours, shooting times, etc. is how I keep track and work my way through days.

XBIZ: Any industry stars that inspire you or who you’ve really enjoyed collaborating with?

ImMeganLive: Romi Rain. I’ve been following her for years now. I love her personality, her sex appeal, how self-confident she is and how she expresses herself. I had the chance to meet her briefly once at an event party, but unfortunately didn’t have the chance to discuss much. If I had a chance to collaborate with her, I’d definitely take it!

XBIZ: Describe the “ImMeganLive” brand in a nutshell, as far as your personality, vibe and style.

ImMeganLive: Unless I’m roleplaying, I’m not playing a character. You get exactly what you see. Either on webcam or in my videos, I’m full of energy most of the time, laughing, having fun, working hard and talking all the time. I’m super accessible, easygoing, don’t have an attitude and don’t think of myself as higher than others; I’m the girl next door.

XBIZ: Talk about your experiences working with BranditScan to protect your content and help the community stay ahead of the curve.

ImMeganLive: BranditScan and their team are incredible. I’ve worked with other brand and privacy protection sites in the past and none were anywhere near as good, efficient and proactive as BranditScan. They have a built-in community keeping people in the loop and helping fine-tune the tools to better act upon piracy. Since I’ve started to trust them with my brand, I finally have peace of mind that everything that can be done to fight for my brand is done.

XBIZ: What do you hope to achieve by the end of the year, as well as long-term?

ImMeganLive: I would like to incorporate my business by the end of the year. It’s quite a big project, with lots of side tasks involved. Believe it or not, some people think sex workers are not paying any taxes; sex work is a job like any other, so we pay taxes as well. Business incorporation will help me better manage my long-term goals, which are to save up for buying a house and invest in different projects.

How Adult Businesses Can Navigate Global Compliance Demands

The internet has made the world feel small. Case in point: Adult websites based in the U.S. are now getting letters from regulators demanding compliance with foreign laws, even if they don’t operate in those countries. Meanwhile, some U.S. website operators dealing with the patchwork of state-level age verification laws have considered incorporating offshore in the hopes of avoiding these new obligations — but even operators with no physical presence in the U.S. have been sued or threatened with claims for not following state AV laws.

Every week, it seems, a new agency emerges, promising to turn creators into stars, automate their fan interactions or triple their revenue through “secret” social strategies. The reality? Building Sustainable Revenue Without Opt-Out Cross-Sales

Over the past year, we’ve seen growing pushback from acquirers on merchants using opt-out cross-sales — also known as negative option offers. This has been especially noticeable in the U.S. In fact, one of our acquirers now declines new merchants during onboarding if an opt-out flow is detected. Existing merchants submitting new URLs with opt-out cross-sales are being asked to remove them.

How to Handle Payment Disputes Without Sacrificing Trust

You can run the best-managed and most compliant website out there, but that still doesn’t completely shield you from the risks tied to payment disputes. Buyer’s remorse, an unclear billing description or even a simple misunderstanding can lead a customer to dispute a transaction. Accumulate enough disputes, and both your reputation and revenue could be at risk.

From Compliance to Confidence: The Future of Safety in Adult Platforms

In numerous countries and U.S. states, laws now require platforms to prevent minors from accessing age-inappropriate material. But the need for safeguarding doesn’t end with age verification. Today’s online landscape also places adult companies at uniquely high risk for inadvertently facilitating exploitation, abuse or reputational harm, or of being accused of doing so.

How to Switch Payment Processors Without Disrupting Business

For many merchants, the idea of switching payment processors can feel pretty overwhelming. That’s understandable. After all, downtime can stall sales, recurring subscriptions can suddenly fail, or compliance gaps can put accounts at risk. Operating in a high-risk sector like the adult industry can further amplify the stress of transition.
