TikTok Tips for Cam Models

TikTok Tips for Cam Models

These days, TikTok ranks pretty high up on the list of guilty pleasures for many people. After all, it’s pretty hard to resist the allure of sexy viral dance routines or the steady thump of Busta Rhymes rapping over fashion videos where everyday people transform into the chicest supermodels this side of the runway.

TikTok is more than a source of entertainment, though, especially for cam models looking to build their brand. While TikTok is a mainstream platform with strict terms of use, just like any other social media site, there are many advantages to creating an account (and using it correctly) for webcam models. Here are a few ways you can use TikTok to promote yourself and build your brand.

TikTok is arguably the most exciting platform for PG content, so take full advantage of all the unique features it has to offer.

THE RISE OF TIKTOK “ACCOUNTANTS”

If you think you’ve stumbled across the wrong article, think again. “Accountant” is TikTok slang for sex workers. It sounds weird, and it is, but like most things in recent history, this code name stems from a viral TikTok that became a meme, and the rest is internet history. So, what does this have to do with you? Simply put: hashtags. This term gives you the ability to let viewers know you’re a sex worker without telling them you’re a sex worker, thus helping you operate within the app’s community guidelines. While some creators use hashtags like #cammodel, it’s a risk that’s hardly worth the reward. So, every time you post content, be sure to include the hashtags #Accountant and #TikTokAccountant to increase your chances of getting in front of the right audience.

ALWAYS FOLLOW COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

As is the case with any social media platform, you must abide by TikTok’s community guidelines or risk getting your account suspended or banned. This can be challenging for someone in the adult industry, but it’s essential to thrive as a content creator on this or any other social media platform. So yes, you can still be sexy, but be careful to always abide by the platform's nudity guidelines. In short, this is the current policy:

“Nudity and sexual activity include content that is overtly revealing of breasts, genitals, anus or buttocks, or behaviors that mimic, imply or display sex acts. We do not allow depictions, including digitally created or manipulated content, of nudity or sexual activity. We are mindful of content that may be offensive or culturally inappropriate in certain regions or may not be suitable for users of all ages.”

Since social media platforms often update their policies, make a habit of checking once a month to ensure you are continuously following site guidelines.

GET CREATIVE

TikTok is arguably the most exciting platform for PG content, so take full advantage of all the unique features it has to offer. Learn how to “Stitch” videos (post video replies to other TikToks) and how to make “Duets” with other creators. This is an excellent option if you want to team up with fellow models to increase each other’s followings. For example, a sexy (non-nude) Duet set to “Best Friend” by Doja Cat and Saweetie could be a great way to cross-promote and have a lot of fun in the process. When it comes to individual content, focus on things that set you apart, whether it’s fashion, cosplay, gaming or comedy skits. Story times are also popular, and as a model, you likely have a massive arsenal of interesting tales to share with your audience.

PROMOTE YOUR SMALL BUSINESS

Many cam models are entrepreneurs and have side businesses tied to their brand. Maybe you make crafts on the side, sell makeup or do something else that brings income independently of your cam earnings. TikTok offers small business resources you can use to promote your side business that are either low-cost or, in many cases, free. Check out the small business resources center on the site, where you will find tools to help you create a business account, design your own ads, learn how to track analytics, connect your account to Shopify and more. Again, this isn’t something you should use to promote your cam shows, but you can boost sales and create a fantastic extra revenue stream for yourself if you want to sell merch or other tangible goods.

WAYS TO BRING TRAFFIC TO YOUR CAM ROOM

At the end of the day, you’re still a cam model, so bringing at least some of your TikTok viewers back to your room is essential. Whatever you do, do not link back to your room or any other adult site, as that will undoubtedly result in a permanent ban. Instead, try linking to a social media reference landing page like Linktree to list all your social media and adult links. Or, if you want to play it safe, link to your Twitter account so they can get to your room directly from your profile and posts. Keep in mind that not all accounts can post links to their profiles, as TikTok seems to base that feature on follower count and location. If you don’t have that ability, a simple workaround is to switch over to a business account, which is very easy to do.

WAYS TO MONETIZE YOUR ACCOUNT

Since you’re putting effort into growing your account, you may as well make some extra money while you’re at it! If you’re already familiar with how to monetize social media, then you know all about making money from brand sponsorships and affiliate links. However, TikTok also gives creators a way to make money directly from the app. Once you hit 1,000 followers, you’ll unlock the ability to livestream. This feature works a bit like camming, in that as you’re streaming, viewers can give you donations in the form of virtual gifts. So, if you have a large enough audience, you can make a lot of extra cash and get paid directly by TikTok just for hanging out and having some good, clean fun with your fans.

GET YOUR TIKTOKS NOTICED

The only way the above strategies will help you make money is if your videos get noticed, so the followers and views pour in. You already have the looks and personality to keep clients coming back to your room for more, so keep that same energy when creating TikToks. Make sure your lighting and video quality are top-notch, and try to post as often as you can. You can even reuse PG or PG-13 content you already have on hand to populate your page and give your first followers enough to fall in love with you, so they stick around for the long haul. In addition to the #accountant hashtag mentioned above, #ForYourPage and #FYP are also good hashtags to include because they increase your chances of getting picked up by the TikTok algorithm, so your videos are recommended to users scrolling the app. Good luck, and have fun!

Growing Site Revenue Under Ever-Changing Compliance Rules

Over the past year, many merchants have reported earnings that were flat or even a bit down. This is due to three main factors: age verification regulations, click-to-cancel rules, and banks backing away from cross-sales due to regulatory requirements and the rollout of the Visa Acquiring Monitoring Program (VAMP).
