Tips, Techniques to Decrease Possible Leaking of Sensitive Information

When security breaches are mentioned, bank institutions, credit score companies, and large brand retailers come to mind. Social media giant Facebook, with more than 2.45 billion monthly active users, was recently breached, exposing over 267 million users' personal information. No one is spared when it comes to cyber criminals.

The adult industry is considered to be more vulnerable in these predicaments as many prefer to keep their work and indulgence private or separate from others. Millions of consumers have been compromised due to hackers and the lack of preparation, prior to security breaches. It’s incredibly important for adult industry sites to prioritize safety and protection on their platforms. Not only will this secure their networks, but it will also help them build more trust with consumers.

Although sometimes things can fall through the cracks, there are a number of ways to either prevent them from happening or be armed with solutions.

Although sometimes things can fall through the cracks, there are a number of ways to either prevent them from happening or be armed with solutions. We have found a few ways to tighten cybersecurity and protect both workers and consumers.

Employee Cybersecurity Training

Most security breaches occur because an employee clicked on a trojan link or provided information that allowed a cybercriminal access to the network. Implementing regular cybersecurity training for all employees will decrease the chances of leaked sensitive information.

Employee Identity Phishing and Spear-Phishing Training

In addition to the foundational cybersecurity training, employees should also be schooled on phishing. One of the most popular and effective ways for hackers to attack is through phishing and spear-phishing attacks. Phishing attacks are more generalized, but spear-phishing is personalized to each target and can be scarily convincing. Employees need to be trained on everything that is possible through spear-phishing and other trending attacks.

Two-Step Authentication

Two-step access control to your computer network adds an extra layer of protection for user accounts to decrease the risk of unauthorized access and breaches. This method starts with confirming a user’s identity with two different components for access to their account.

Update Software Regularly

Antivirus software scans all the files you open, providing ongoing protection. To maximize the security effectiveness, it’s vital to stay current on software updates as new malware and virus definitions are constantly changing.

Zero-Trust Networks

Zero-trust networks identify every network user and verify each device before granting any kind of access. It only allows authorized users to access certain areas of the system that the administrators have granted permission to use. This reduces the number of potential attacks while also giving you control to track and trace all attempts from unauthorized users, as well as all unusual activities and patterns that can help you identify cybercriminals.

As the sex toy industry continues to grow, we can continue to discover new strategies to enhance cybersecurity safety. We should all strive to create a secure and friendly platform for all of our clients in the industry. Implementing these tips will help save and ensure trust between the adult industry and its consumers, as well as its workers.
