Paid Placement: An Easy Way to Boost Visitor Volume

The ongoing decimation of many adult websites’ organic search traffic in the wake of Google’s continuing algorithm updates is causing an increase in the need to diversify the sources contributing to overall traffic plans — with simply “paying for it” being an easy, if potentially problematic, solution.

There are several basic strategies for obtaining paid placement, including dealing with individual websites yourself: buying a banner or link, or a gallery slot, or clip placement and then managing the creatives and traffic monitoring in-house. This approach cuts out the middle man and maximizes control — allowing you to choose the properties you wish to receive traffic from and under what terms. The do-it-yourself method requires a degree of skill, however, and is time consuming.

In addition to expert guidance and resources, brokers are often the only way to receive traffic from high-profile websites.

Think of it like the stock market: You could research companies and markets and buy the stocks and make the investments that you want and then hope for the best, or you can rely on an experienced broker to help guide your efforts in hopes of a bigger return.

Traffic brokers typically manage a portfolio of websites that could be either in-house properties or third-party websites relying on brokers to handle advertising sales for them, or a mixture of the two.

In addition to expert guidance and resources, brokers are often the only way to receive traffic from high-profile websites.

Taking brokerage a step further are traffic networks leveraging large visitor volumes and allowing users to both buy and sell website visitors. While some do little more than manage the exchange between buyers and sellers, others take a more innovative tack.

Pimproll is a good example of current thinking in this regard. Its HostedTube solution allows just about anyone to setup a customizable tube site in a matter of minutes and get paid for sales and ad impressions, forming a huge traffic base.

Some of the ads are from its TrafficForce program. Need targeted traffic? Set up a TrafficForce account and your ad could be displayed across countless hosted tube sites and beyond, delivering new visitors.

You can find a wide range of outlets for paid ad placement, including traffic brokers, traffic and ad networks, individual websites and more in XBIZ’ Adult Business Directory.
