Wicked Sweeps Empire Awards

WARRENDALE, Penn. — Adult online retailer Adult DVD Empire has announced the winners of its annual Empire Awards for 2007. The awards recognize excellence in content, audio, visual and bonus materials for DVDs and digital formats.

This year’s big winner was Wicked Pictures and its blockbuster release “Operation: Desert Stormy, which brought home six awards. The studio won eight awards overall.

“Operation: Desert Stormy” won both the Viewer’s Choice and Editor’s Choice Awards and Wicked was honored as Best Overall DVD Studio for the second year in a row.

Digital Playground’s “Babysitters” took four awards for Best Video, Best Audio and Best Menus for a DVD release, as well as Best HD DVD, which was the first time an award was presented in a new-generation format category.

Next year, Adult DVD Empire said they would replace this category with Blu-ray, as HD DVD will be phased out by the end of 2008.

Production studio Zero Tolerance followed closely behind Digital Playground, taking two trophies for “Interactive Sex with Jenna Haze,” and three awards overall.

Dream Girls won the first-ever Best Amateur DVD award for their release of “Discovering The Girl Next Door 3.”

Other winners included New Sensations, Jules Jordan, Elegant Angel, Dream Girls and Woodman Entertainment.
