Beducated Advocates for Closing of the Orgasm Gap

MUNICH — In the run-up to International Women's Day on Mar. 8, Beducated has released a statement advocating for closure of the orgasm gap.

"Pleasure is not a luxury — it’s a right," said the statement. "Despite growing conversations around female sexuality, the orgasm gap remains a stark example of inequality, with women’s pleasure historically dismissed, controlled and deprioritized."

Expanding upon this theme in the statement, Beducated wrote that, historically, women’s role in straight sex has been "largely passive," with vulva owners only expected to sexually satisfy their husbands and conceive children. The company added that the orgasm gap persists today, supported by data from a 2024 Beducated survey that revealed 46% of women orgasm “every time” or “most of the time” during partnered sex, which is "half as often as men." A primary reason for this gap? According to Beducated: "A lack of focus on the clitoris. In straight sex, vaginal penetration remains the so-called 'main event,' even though only 18% of women can orgasm from penetration alone."

Beducated founder Mariah Freya also provided insights.

“Equality means changing that narrative to cast vulva owners as having an equal, active and vital role in intimacy,” she said. “When we talk about consent, too often we treat it as something separate from pleasure. But they’re deeply intertwined. It allows us to explore what we like or dislike and gives us the confidence to communicate that with our partners. That can be incredibly empowering.”
