Sunset Strip Bar Sued Over Alleged Ron Jeremy Sexual Assaults

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Two women have filed a negligence lawsuit against Sunset Strip restaurant the Rainbow Bar & Grill, over alleged sexual assaults committed by Ron Jeremy in March 2017.

The women, identified only as Jane Does 1 and 2, allege the assaults took place on March 17, 2017, the WeHoVille news site reported. The suit was filed in the Santa Monica Superior Court.

These appear to be new allegations, not part of the extensive criminal case against Jeremy, which includes numerous allegations of sexual assault by the former adult performer. In January 2023, the judge declared Jeremy incompetent to stand trial in that case.

According to WeHoVille, the plaintiffs “seek unspecified damages and do not name Jeremy as a defendant.”

The filing by Jane Does 1 and 2 alleges that Rainbow Bar & Grill employees “would give permission and would knowingly allow Ron Jeremy to use the employees’ restroom to sexually assault female patrons.”

They allege that shortly after arriving at the bar, Jeremy offered to buy them drinks and unsuccessfully attempted to make out with them. Later in the evening, according to their complaint, Jeremy told Jane Doe 1, “Let me show you something cool” and then “inappropriately touched her without her consent,” WeHoVille reported.

According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe 1 “was mortified and violated and immediately sought refuge from Ron Jeremy.”

The suit also alleges that Jeremy “moved Jane Doe 2’s sleeveless shirt so as to expose her top side and then made an insensitive comment.”

In testimony similar to the statements of several women in the criminal case, Jane Does 1 and 2 say Jeremy “also offered the women the chance to use his private restroom so as to surpass the line at the regular bathroom, then followed them inside the restroom and tried to take suggestive photos of them,” WeHoVille reported. “Jane Doe 1 was able to walk out of the restroom, but Jane Doe 2 was not as fortunate and Jeremy continued to lewdly touch her.”

“After being in the bathroom for what felt like an eternity, and without any aid, Jane Doe 2 shouted at Ron Jeremy to stop in the hope that the Rainbow Bar staff would hear her cries,” the lawsuit alleges, adding that the plaintiffs have suffered “great physical pain and mental suffering” because of those events.

The New Allegations and the Criminal Timeline

The two new allegations in the Rainbow Bar & Grill liability lawsuit concern events that took place exactly a week after another alleged assault, one that has been a core part of the DA’s case against Jeremy from the very beginning, and which features striking parallels.

The second of the original four alleged victims presented by the DA in the filing that led to Jeremy’s 2020 arrest testified that, on the evening of March 10, 2017, she went to the restaurant and encountered the retired performer, whom she portrayed in her testimony as familiar to and friendly with Rainbow employees, and who led her to the employees restroom, followed her inside and sexually assaulted her.

The full details of that allegation, along with the 20 other accusations that form the Los Angeles County district attorney’s case against Jeremy, can be found in a Nov. 2021 XBIZ article which remains the only comprehensive journalistic account of the testimonies given before the grand jury.
