Driven by Pop Hit, 'WAP' Becomes New Porn Search Trend

LOS ANGELES — The new, sexually charged Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion single — and instant pop culture phenomenon — “WAP”  has already spawned, less than a week after its release, a new search trend on adult tube sites.

The novel, now ubiquitous, acronym for “wet-ass pussy" and associated searches have now been trending on Pornhub, xHamster and other tube sites for several days.

A fan-made cut of the original music video — which features Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and several guest stars gallivating around a pastel sex party house or brothel — intercut with explicit sex scenes has currently racked up over 120,000 views on Pornhub.

Enterprising clip artists are also fast re-tagging their videos under #WAP to take advantage of the trend.

Tube sites have also reported upticks on related terms. ”Searches for ‘squirting’ has increased by 17% and 19% for ‘wetpussy,’ a large jump for such enormous categories," said Alex Hawkins, VP of xHamster.  "Searches have also risen for Cardi B over 117% and for Megan Thee Stallion over 206%.”

The Cardi B and Mega Thee Stallion single is built on a sample from “Whores in This House,” a 1992 Baltimore-area club classic by DJ and radio personality Frank Ski.

The original “WAP” video has racked up over 82 million views after one week on YouTube.
