Red Light Center Offers Virtual Haven for Sex Workers

VANCOUVER — Red Light Center is offering an online haven for sex workers impacted by pandemic travel restrictions.

According to the company, sex workers face a bigger problem from the pandemic than almost any other group and most sex workers are not employees who might receive unemployment payments even as their clients and revenue have disappeared almost overnight.

Technology offers a solution, however, in the form of Red Light Center’s WG Directory, an online virtual reality sex work platform that allows "Working Girls" and "Working Guys" to promote live virtual encounters with their clients.

Brian Shuster, CEO of Red Light Center parent Utherverse Digital, explained that it is vitally important that all people take care of themselves and take precaution not to spread COVID-19.

"If sex workers are unable to pay their bills, many will be forced to engage in very risky behavior just to survive," he said, "behavior that involves a lot of very close physical contact."

"I think it is vitally important to give sex workers and their clients a safe alternative, as many must be gravely concerned about making a living, and don’t qualify for assistance due to the nature of their work,” Shuster continued. “We have many qualified helpers that can train and assist new users in how to use the software and how best to bill their customers to maximize their revenue."

Shuster noted that over the past five years, hundreds of thousands of Red Light Center members have enjoyed sexual experiences with real-life providers in virtual 3D gentlemen’s clubs and brothels, exchanging millions of dollars for high-quality interpersonal services, including fetish play and virtual intercourse.

“Red Light Center and its WGs offer a robust and thriving environment for progressive-minded adults, with many discreet opportunities to be social and make friends in a warm and welcoming environment,” Shuster concluded. “We are entering into strange and uncertain times, and Red Light Center is offering a realistic and secure space for Working Girls and Guys so that they may continue to see their clients and engage in their profession, all from the safety of their homes in a virtual environment.”
