Gay Adult Performer Hole Hunter Passes Away

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The gay adult star known as Hole Hunter has passed away.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office on Thursday identified Hole Hunter as the individual who died this week in the home of Ed Buck, a longtime Democratic donor.

Hole Hunter, 55, died under suspicious circumstances in the West Hollywood apartment of Buck, who was in the news over a previous death at his home in 2017.

Hole Hunter, who is black, performed in 18 adult films, according to the Internet Adult Film Database. The first Hole Hunter film listed, “Dark Chocolate Cravings 2,” was released in 2007. The last production listed, “Interracial Public Pickups 3,” was released in 2016. He performed for Dogfart Network, BlacksOnDaddies.com, Magnus, Top Dog, Epic Distribution and Pacific Sun Entertainment.

Before Hole Hunter’s identity was made public by the coroner’s office, Seymour Amster, Buck’s attorney, told the Los Angeles Times that the man found dead in the apartment “was an old friend who died of an accidental overdose, and unfortunately, we believe that the substance was ingested at some place other than the apartment. The person came over-intoxicated.”

In recent years, Hole Hunter worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in nearby Beverly Hills, Calif.

Last year’s death at Buck’s home involved Gemmel Moore, a 26-year-old black man, described as a sex worker, of what was ruled a methamphetamine overdose. Moore had written in a diary that Buck had once injected him with the highly addictive and dangerous drug and had paid him to let him do so.

After Moore’s death, young black escorts came forward to describe their experiences with Buck, who is white. But the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said it did not find sufficient evidence to support allegations that Buck was responsible for his death.

Now, a number of groups, including the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, have called for a more aggressive investigation into Hole Hunter’s death.

“The deaths of Gemmel Moore and the young man who died Monday are beyond tragic, however, because they’re both black gay men justice is not prevailing,” said David Johns, executive director of the Washington, D.C.-based National Black Justice Coalition, in a statement released before Dean and his age had been identified and made public.

Johns said it was “public knowledge that Ed Buck was allegedly giving young black gay men harmful drugs long before this second young man died in his home.”
