LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures today announced that “Deadpool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody” is now available on DVD in stores and through online retailers.
“Deadpool XXX,” available in a two-disc collector's edition DVD from the Wicked Comix imprint, offers director Axel Braun’s take on Marvel's irreverent superhero. The movie has been a hit with video-on-demand audiences since it became available for purchase through major ecommerce and stream-to-own services in September.
“Deadpool XXX” finds Braun favorite Seth Gamble taking on the role of Wade Wilson — the highly trained mercenary whose amazing regenerative abilities are second only to his hyperawareness and raunchy humor.
“The film represents an amazing and award-worthy achievement for Gamble, who is currently astonishing audiences and critics alike as the male lead in Braun's first non-parody feature in 15 years, ‘The Possession Of Mrs. Hyde,’” a publicist said. “The versatile actor is currently enjoying what can only be called the year of his career, delivering what Braun has called the ultimate double whammy with ‘Hyde’ and ‘Deadpool’ — two completely different characters and two equally incredible performances.”
Braun said: “Seth really killed it as Deadpool. It was a difficult role that required a lot of physicality, comedic timing, stamina, and patience, and he took it very seriously. This is a guy who brings an incredible level of commitment and consistency to everything he does, and takes his time to do his research and develop the characters beyond anybody’s expectations.”
"With two big movies on my plate, ‘Deadpool XXX’ and ‘The Possession of Mrs. Hyde,’ we had an intense, very demanding shooting schedule and ended up literally shooting almost every day for a month,” Braun said. “Watching Seth switch gears between such diametrically opposite characters as Deadpool and Hyde (once even on the same day) and absolutely nailing both performances was pretty mind-blowing. He was the perfect choice for both roles, and if you ask me, for any role.”
From the first frame to the last, “Deadpool XXX” is awash in meta-porn innovations and allusions, immersing viewers in a rollicking and erotic movie-within-a-movie-within-a-movie, the publicist said.
“Jessica Drake and Brad Armstrong are brilliant as Lady Deadpool and Cable, tearing into their roles with no small amount of good humor,” the publicist said. “Armstrong even created his own unique take on Cable's iconic costume and mechanical arm.
Armstrong said: “It was an absolute honor finally getting to work with Axel. I got to witness the magic happening first hand … the way he tests his actors by giving them their scripts the night before so the lines are fresh is pure genius. The movie came out great. Seth was phenomenal, Bartholet was really funny, and as much as it pains me to admit it, Axel didn’t suck! I mean, there should have been way more Cable, but whatever!"
“The film's five explosive sex scenes also reflect Braun's meta-porn approach,” the publicist noted. “Domino is portrayed by two actresses — Jennifer White shines as the traditional comic book ingenue, while Ana Foxxx personifies the 'new' Domino depicted by Zazie Beetz in Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 2.
"Braun favorite Romi Rain — an industry icon thanks in no small part to her incredible turn as Wonder Woman — is a dead ringer for the classic Elektra of vintage Marvel lore, while Ramon Nomar put on 27 pounds of pure muscle to portray rageaholic killing machine Franke Castle — The Punisher.”
“No meta-porn blockbuster would be complete without self-referential non-sex cameos, and ‘Deadpool XXX’ contains several, including Braun himself alongside fellow parody specialist Will Ryder, whose thespian track record with the director includes turns as Perry White in both ‘Superman XXX’ and ‘Superman v. Spider-Man. ‘”
The two-disc collector's edition release includes the feature presentation on the first disc, while the second disc contains no less than 10 bonus sex scenes, hardcore trailers and other content exclusive to the physical release.
