Doc Johnson Featured on BBC Program Looking at Business of Sex Toys

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Doc Johnson executives Chad and Erica Braverman were featured on BBC Radio 4 last week, discussing the big business of sex toys.

The BBC’s Laurence Knight, in a report titled “How Sex Toys Became Sexy,” took a wide look at the global sex toy business, which in the radio story was estimated as a $23.5 billion industry.

“It’s a huge market, and it’s growing fast at up to 10 percent a year,” Knight said. “It’s a far cry from when I was a teenager when the business was not only smaller but a bit shabbier as well.”

Chad Braverman said of the BBC Radio segment, “To be called upon by one of the most-respected news organizations in the world was an honor for Doc Johnson — and being able to share some of our story on international radio was also very exciting.”

“It’s always incredibly gratifying when a mainstream news publication is interested in covering our industry, but to be featured on an outlet that is as esteemed as the BBC was particularly special,” Braverman said.

“We’d like to give a huge thanks to the BBC and Laurence Knight, for allowing us to share our thoughts on the pleasure products industry with their international audience.”

Doc Johnson, based in North Hollywood, Calif., was founded by Ron Braverman, the father of Chad and Erica. It is considered the largest adult novelty maker in the U.S.
