Goldfrau Inks Good Vibrations as Exclusive U.S. Distributor

SAN FRANCISCO — Sex-positive adult toy retailer Good Vibrations has been inked as the sole distributor of Australian ceramics company Goldfrau. The deal will add another specialty line to Good Vibrations' luxury collection.

Goldfrau's handcrafted vibrating dildos are made from durable ceramic, a material not generally associated with adult toys. Jonathan Plotzker, senior director of e-commerce and merchandising at Good Vibrations, told XBIZ that the company's buyer, Coyote Days, is always on the lookout for new materials — she has brought glass, metal and elastomer toys to Good Vibrations — and when she saw Goldfrau's product, she knew she had to bring it to the U.S.

"When I first heard of it," Plotzker said, "I immediately thought of the space shuttle. It's an interesting use for a material that's been around for millions of years."

The smooth, nonporous ceramic dildo is coated with a lead-free glaze that is lightweight, yet virtually indestructible. Plotzker assures that regular use cannot wear the toy down.

Goldfrau founder Judith Glover said her toys are designed by women for women, and wanted her products to be sold in the U.S. by an equally women-friendly, sex-positive company like Good Vibrations.

Goldfrau's dildos are available in black, white and pink, and some come with a hand-painted floral design on the side. Its minimalist design and smooth, baseball-bat shape make the toy aesthetically pleasing, and Plotzker said if it proves to be a big seller, Good Vibrations will add new colors and sizes to the line.

Good Vibrations will distribute the Australian dildos across the U.S., and Plotzker said up to six different countries already have backordered the toy.
