LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures has announced the release of multi XBIZ Award-winning director Brad Armstrong's "Takers," a two-disc sci-fi feature starring Wicked Girl Asa Akira.
"Set a heartbeat in the future but infused with drama as timely as today's headlines, this three-hour epic finds the director taking aim at the deadly games played behind the scenes of a corrupt healthcare system where the gift of life goes to the highest bidder," teased a spokesperson. "Slated to go on sale August 23, 2017, this explosive drama's roll-out comes as Ms. Akira is making topical headlines of her own: As the Inquisitr reports, she recently earned a place alongside Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Selena Gomez and Jessica Alba in a U.K. poll on the top five 'Celebrity Fantasy Robot Lovers.'
"While Asa has indeed portrayed an AI for Armstrong before (most notably in DNA, where she earned the 2017 XBIZ Award for Best Supporting Actress), the director's latest masterwork finds her playing someone who is all too human," they continued. "For as 'Takers' begins, the government has turned its back on society, and the healthcare and medical insurance industries are unregulated and out of control. Costs have skyrocketed and many procedures have become 'black market' operations, which has led to an epidemic of organ selling … and stealing. Donor lists are now a thing of the past and patients are willing to do whatever it takes to get the life-saving organs they need."
Alan Hendrix, an unscrupulous businessman, has assembled a team of “Takers” — Karen (Akira), Sienna (Ana Foxxx) and Carrie (Kleio Valentine) — beautiful seductresses who lure men into a night of passion they’ll never forget. Unfortunately, they wake up to find they’ve become unwilling organ donors. The cast also features Armstrong, Christiana Cinn, Sarah Vandella, Marcus London, Derrick Pierce, Ryan Driller and 2017 XBIZ Male Performer of the Year Xander Corvus.
"This edge of your seat drama mixes intense sex, intriguing storytelling and incredible acting by some of today’s most talented performers," the director said of his latest production. The company's official Twitter has posted a free safe-for-work Twitter banner featuring shots of Akira, Valentien and Foxxx from the movie. Fans are encouraged to take the banner, upload it to their own pages and then tweet the hashtag #ImATaker to @wickedpictures. Wicked will commemorate the movie's release on Aug. 23 by choosing 10 "Takers" at random to receive complimentary copies of both the two-disc gatefold sleeve, "Takers DVD" and Armstrong's XBIZ Award-winning "DNA," starring Akira and Jessica Drake.
