Sex.live, Porn.live Domains Sell for $280K

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Domain name service company Rightside today said it recently sold two .live adult entertainment domains for six figures apiece.

Sex.live sold for $160,000, while Porn.live was acquired for $120,000, said Rightside, which noted that the domain names rank among the highest for new gTLD domain name sales.

Since the launch of new gTLDs in 2014, there have been 15 reported sales of domains $100,000 or more.

Both sites have already gone live as adult cam sites.

In a post today, Rightside said that the unnamed new owner of the two domain was confident he would find success with the pair of .live names.

“As an investor, I believe the new TLDs are the most undervalued asset class available today,” the new Porn.live and Sex.live operator told Rightside.

“The .live extension is particularly attractive given the proliferation of live streaming content across the internet and the significant usage we are starting to see by celebrities and organizations, big and small, of domains ending with .live to facilitate their live content.”

Rightside, in the post, noted that a sizable chunk of the internet is dedicated to adult entertainment and that it will likely continue that way for the foreseeable future.

“While recent headlines have proclaimed that Pokémon Go has become bigger than pornography, the fact remains that adult content represents one of the largest segments of commerce on the internet,” Rightside said.

“And as much as the adult entertainment industry has the internet to thank for its size, the internet itself can thank pornography for a great deal of its early and current innovation, too.”
