Xnxx.com’s Parent Files 4 More Cybersquatting Claims

LAS VEGAS — The company that operates adult tube site Xnxx.com has filed four more claims against websites alleged to have been cybersquatting with similar domain names.

NKL Associates S.R.O., the Czechoslovakia-based company that has trademarks for the brand, filed UDRP claims targeting AllXnxx.com, XxxnxMovies.com, XnxxVideos.me and XxnxVids.com.

Arguing that the domains are confusingly similar to its Xnxx.com adult tube site, NKL Associates is seeking to have the domain names transferred to the company.

In the past two years, Xnxx.com, as well as sister company XVideos.com, has filed scores of cases against copycat adult tube sites. In nearly all of the cases, NKL Associates has succeeded before WIPO arbitrators, later benefiting by taking over and re-branding the transferred sites.

Industry attorney Marc Randazza of Randazza Legal Group told XBIZ today that he recommends all adult companies be vigilant over brand protection. Randazza represents NKL Associates.

“Cybersquatters rely on consumer confusion in order to attract traffic that, by all rights, belongs to the trademark owner,” Randazza said. “However, that is not all that is at stake. If you do not defend your trademark rights, you stand to lose them.

“Therefore, even if these sites siphon very little traffic, they still stand to create a problem for the trademark owner. It is for that reason that I encourage all adult companies to do a cybersquatting audit and to take action to protect their brand. Failing to do so could make the brand asset less valuable, and could lead to it being difficult to defend in the future.”
