CBS L.A. Spotlights SHE, Sex Tips From Emily Morse

LOS ANGELES — CBS Los Angeles’ nightly news aired a special segment last night on “Spicing Up Relationships” featuring a visit to last month’s groundbreaking consumer event Sexual Health Expo, The Pleasure Chest and tips from SHE spokesperson, sex and relationship expert Emily Morse.

SHE sex-ed sponsor The Pleasure Chest — Los Angeles’ landmark adult boutique and staple in the sexual wellness arena — is featured throughout the clip. An attendee of its free in-store workshop, “The Ultimate O,” tells CBS she attends sex-ed events to “learn more about my body and how it works."

Also serving as a testament to people’s longing for sex education, on Jan. 17-18, Los Angeles’ first-ever SHE, presented by luxury brand Jimmyjane, drew more than 2,000 attendees to West Hollywood’s Sofitel Hotel for two days of workshops, networking and product showcases.

“The success of erotic romance books like ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ has brought the discussion from behind bedroom doors to adult stores and even sexual wellness conferences,” CBS2's Sandra Mitchell said.

Featuring clips of SHE’s ribbon cutting ceremony and its product exhibition area brimming with attendees, Mitchell notes out how many of them are “couples looking to spice things up.”

“Better sex is about expanding your knowledge about yourself and what’s available now,” Morse said. “Women are mostly concerned about orgasms. The truth is only 30 percent of women actually have orgasms during intercourse. Men really want to please women. So that’s why I think women need to learn what makes them feel good so they can let their partners please them.”

Sarah Tomchesson, The Pleasure Chest’s director of business development and strategy, tells CBS about the impact of “Fifty Shades” on shopping trends.

“Since ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ came out now all of a sudden grey is the color that everyone wants,” she says. “Grey lingerie, whips, toys — whereas before everybody wanted black red and pink.”

The segment wraps with a nod to those “breaking the biggest taboo of all — talking about it.”

SHE 2015 organizers recently announced plans in motion for a national expansion.
