Vidicom Launches Mobill Cash

LONDON — Vidicom has launched Mobill Cash, an alternative billing solution, which allows users to pay for content on their mobile phone bill with a premium test messaging service (PSMS).

According to Vidicom Managing Director Glyn Smith, a test run of the new service in six countries helped customers increase site membership rates by more than 30 percent. Smith also said the use of Mobill Cash accounted for a dramatic decrease in chargebacks, with only three customers out of 27,000 requiring a refund.

“Today’s growing concerns over payment fraud such as credit cards, means people want simpler, safer alternatives as well as increased convenience,” Smith said. “PSMS provides this as well as being totally discreet while allowing companies to open up to enhanced mobile services.”

Using the Mobill Cash system, webmasters can have their users pay with either a personal identification number (PIN) or text message confirmation.

Smith said he believes that the growth of SMS around the world will lead to an overall rise in the use of mobile payment solutions.

Mobill Cash is available through Vidicom in more than 50 countries.
