Takedown Piracy Celebrates 5-Year Anniversary

LOS ANGELES — Takedown Piracy reported today that it is celebrating its 5-year anniversary by removing its 30 millionth copyright infringement.

“It’s been an amazing five years, with each one surpassing the others,” said Takedown Piracy owner Nate Glass, who was recently referred to as a “polarizing figure on the Internet” and the “Luke Skywalker” of piracy by tech website DailyDot.com. “I am so grateful to have a job I whole-heartedly believe in and to represent and protect the best clients in the entertainment industry.”

Created by Glass in 2009, Takedown Piracy aims to keep clients’ content safe from digital pirates. In 2014, Glass teamed with Wicked Pictures contract performer and director jessica drake to educate young adults on the consequences of digital piracy.

The duo has since presented “The Piracy of Sex” lecture series to students at University of Chicago and University of Southern California and Glass has been profiled on ABC’s “Nightline.” To watch the report, click here.

Wicked Pictures Chief Technology Officer Avi Bitton explained, “Every content producer thinks about piracy and must decide to what degree they are going to ignore, accept, fight, and/or attempt to monetize it.  Nate Glass’s service is part of our strategy to mitigate the effects of piracy. We maintain constant vigilance in this area and Nate is quick to find, locate and remove infringements.”

“Takedown Piracy will always be on the front lines of the battle against piracy, but the only way to truly win is through education,” Glass said.  “While there will always be some bad apples who are going to pirate movies, book and games regardless of the situation, I think many people simply don’t realize the effect piracy has on the people creating the content. jessica and I want to teach people how piracy harms more than the performers on camera, but also the thousands of people working behind the scenes. Similar to iTunes for music, there are inexpensive options for porn fans to watch scenes, while still supporting the industry they love.”

Takedown Piracy tracks at least nine different ways content may be pirated and offers protection in the following areas: cyberlocker sites like Rapidshare, Torrent sites, tube sites, auctioned or unauthorized DVD resellers, search engines, image hosts, blogs, forums and social media platforms.
