L.A.’s Adultcon Draws Large Crowd

LOS ANGELES — Part flea market, part fan convention, the second annual Adultcon featured plenty of flesh and fans Saturday and Sunday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The well-attended show drew exhibitors selling everything from adult DVDs to sex toys to a date with a porn star.

After moving to a larger hall within the convention center for the September show, Adultcon was crowded but not cramped, except when fans took advantage of an opportunity to photograph scantily clad porn stars that played to the crowd’s prurient interests.

Most booths were hawking DVDs that fans gobbled up quickly. The 2 Buck Porn booth resembled a swap meet as clamoring throngs purchased heavily discounted DVDs.

“These fan conventions are great for business,” a 2 Buck Porn staffer told XBIZ. “When you put out these DVDs that we’re selling for only a couple bucks in this environment [of scantily clad women], the fans can’t resist. We moved a lot of units and just cleared a lot of space on our shelves today.”

Offering a chance to hawk $15 or $20 autographed Polaroids of themselves with fans, many porn stars approached Adultcon with an entrepreneurial bent. Billing herself as the “best body in the industry,” Lori Lust was offering fans a chance to oil her buttocks for $10.

“I see these conventions as a great way to make new fans,” Lust told XBIZ. “I still consider myself new to the industry, so I want to give fans the chance to see me up close and personal. I really like meeting my current fans and making new ones, so this convention was good for my career.”

Also in attendance on Sunday were Teanna Kai, Dee, Brooke, Vivian West, Desire Moore, Brooke Haven, Jezebelle Bond, CoCo Shannelle, Alexis Amore, Nautica Thorn, Adrianna Sage, Sophie Dee, Michelle Lay, Lynn LeMay and the ubiquitous Ron Jeremy.

“The fans are great, and that’s what these conventions are all about,” Jeremy, who attracted the largest crowd of admirers, told XBIZ. “For a guy who looks like I look to have the career I’ve had, and [to have] this many fans is a blessing I thank the big guy upstairs for.”
