4th HIV-Positive Performer Speaks at AHF Press Event

LOS ANGELES — Cameron Bay, Rod Daily, Patrick Stone and another adult performer recently diagnosed as HIV-positive — identified only as John Doe — spoke about their personal experiences at an AIDS Health Foundation press conference that was held this morning.

The AHF last week issued a statement that fourth performer had tested positive, but revealed no specific information about the performer until today.

Doe, who said he been performing in the industry for two years, would not release details about the studio he worked with or exactly when he was infected until formal investigations into the matter are completed. Doe, AHF spokesman Ged Kenslea said, is a performer who worked in gay as well as straight productions.

He said that he tested negative for HIV two weeks before a shoot, and then tested positive for acute HIV infection two weeks following; after all his personal first-generation contacts tested negative, he assumed that the infection occurred on-set.

Stone, a performer since 2010, was identified by AHF president Michael Weinstein as a fifth performer who tested positive after shooting a scene with Kink.com in June. Stone said that he now believes his results are false-positive.

“It’s looking like a false-positive, but we’re still not 100 percent sure about that,” Stone said.

The conference opened with a short preface by Weinstein, who said that the primary purpose of today’s conference was to hear from the performers.

“Four performers step forward in the very heated environment that we’re in and speak about things of a personal nature, [it] takes an enormous amount of courage,” he said, adding that the conference comes on the heels of the announcement made by the Free Speech Coalition earlier this week that the moratorium on adult filming will be lifted this Friday.

Other speakers at the conference included Derrick Burts, a performer who was infected with HIV in 2010, and Darren James, a performer who was infected in 2004.

On Aug. 22, porn actress Bay announced via the FSC that she had been infected with HIV. After Bay tested positive, production was shut down for about a week through a FSC moratorium.

Later, Rod Daily announced via social media that he has contracted HIV, making him the second adult film actor to announce a diagnosis with the disease in recent weeks.

Another actor — the third in two weeks — tested positive, according to AHF/PASS, which immediately imposed a voluntary moratorium for adult film shoots. That performer has chosen to remain anonymous.

The moratorium that has been in effect since Sept. 6 will be lifted this Friday.
