AHF Makes Complaints Against 12 More Gay Bareback Studios

SAN FRANCISCO — Twelve more gay adult studios have been targeted by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Cal/OSHA complaints over condom-less productions.

Last week, the AHF said it would be filing a worker safety complaint over bareback studio Treasure Island Media.

Today's announcement expands the pool of studios on AHF's complaint list.

Those producers and companies targeted, besides Treasure Island, include: Bareback Inc./Vineyard Entertainment; Dark Alley Media; HDK International/Hot Desert Knights; Huge Studio/AVNS Inc.; Icarus Entertainment/Raw Pups; Pete’s Distribution; Sparta Video; Spunk Video; Stud Mall; SX Video; Viper Entertainment; and Zyloco Inc./Tony & Cam.

Michael Weinstein, president of the AHF, called Treasure Island Media "a particularly egregious and outspoken violator of Cal/OSHA safety statutes with its policy of only producing bareback DVDs."

“Today, we formally filed the complaints with OSHA and also filed complaints against a dozen other producers of gay bareback porn to press for the equal enforcement of existing state and local workplace regulatory guidelines which already require the use of condoms in their — and all — adult films produced in California,” Weinstein said.

"The complaints are AHF’s first targeting the bareback gay market," he said. "AHF filed similar worker safety complaints with Cal/OSHA beginning in August 2009 against 16 California-based adult film companies, and in the years since, filed additional complaints specifically targeting Steve Hirsch’s Vivid Entertainment as well Larry Flynt’s Hustler Video.

"To date, Cal/OSHA has opened investigations into several of the companies, has cited and fined several, and is still evaluating and considering additional investigations of some of the remaining companies."

The complaints targeting the gay bareback film industry were submitted today at the Cal/OSHA office in Santa Ana, Calif.

In related news, Assemblyman Isadore Hall III, a Democrat from Compton, Calif., has scheduled a press conference today at the offices of the AHF to announce the introduction of legislation similar to Measure B, which was approved by Los Angeles County voters in November.

"When it comes down to it, adult film actors are employees, like any other employee for any other business in the state,” Hall said. “We have an obligation to ensure that all workers, regardless of the type of work, are protected from workplace hazards and injury. Condoms are a proven and effective way to prevent a number of sexually transmitted diseases.''
