Porn Pros Eyeing Google's New Eyeglass Computer

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Looks like porn pros are already eyeing Google’s new “Glass” eyeglass-embedded computers.

Shortly after yesterday’s announcement of the new gadgets at Google’s I/O developer’s conference in San Francisco, PC Magazine was investigating Glass’s porn potential.

Pink Visual spokesman Quentin Boyer told PC in an email, "The style of porn known as 'point of view'  has been a popular type of content for quite a while now. Obviously, a device that allows you to shoot high quality video in a truly hands-free fashion will make shooting POV porn that much easier.”

Whether Boyer and Pink Visual are serious about vetting the $1500 headgear is too early to tell as it wasn’t present at the I/O conference where pre-orders were taken.

But if the company’s cutting-edge tech stance is any indication, Pink Visual will be testing Glass the minute the hardware becomes available.

Boyer said he wants to get a pair "sooner rather than later" and is already brainstorming on porn applications.

I/O attendees won’t get their pairs until early 2013 and consumers won’t see them on the market until 2014.

"To really know their full potential, we'll need to get a pair to play around with, but we're already dreaming up ways to use the glasses to get shots (sex-related and otherwise) that just aren't feasible using a traditional camera setup," Boyer said.

Adult app markeplace MiKandi also sees potential in Glass.

PC pointed out that MiKandi (Pink Visual’s Android app provider), did attend I/O and will receive a beta pair of the glasses intimating that Pink Visual may have an opportunity to play with the glasses.

And MiKandi said in an email that the company was focusing on ways to enhance other "intimate" applications like dating apps.

"A wearable computer such as Glass can provide a wealth of useful information and interaction during a date. For instance, when looking at a wine list, it might find an old tweet from your partner praising a particular wine," the MiKandi spokesman said.

Once porn developers get to play with the specs, it’s a safe bet that adult will again lead technology similar to how it embraced home video and the Internet.

And if tech-savvy Pink Visual does become one of the trailblazers for the personal porn glasses, you can be sure the product will have a much sexier name than “Pink Eyes.”
