CandyCrib Pays Models $100,000 for User Generated Content

LONDON — Glamour model network CandyCrib.com has announced that it has paid out more than $100,000 to models uploading their own content to the site.

According to the company, which launched in January 2009, CandyCrib.com has developed a platform that has disrupted the traditional adult paid website business model. The social network is built to assist the company's mobile content distribution network but has grown into a standalone business that now boasts more than 6,000 participating models.

"Our business was about shooting content and distributing it to mobile network operators around the world," Eoin Dowling, CandyCrib's founder, said. "We decided to create a network to share the revenue with the models and it has proved very successful. We aim to be in a position to pay out $500,000 in 2010."

CandyCrib allows models to upload content from home and the paying subscribers reward the models based on the content, with a format that incentivizes the models to upload good quality content regularly.

"CandyCrib allows models to earn a regular income, you get back what you put into it," says CandyCrib regular Cheekysamo. "It's much more consistent then going to casting after casting for magazine work."

CandyCrib is planning to roll out the platform to mobile devices early next year to create a convergent web and mobile network.

"Traditionally our strength has been in mobile content distribution, but with the convergence of mobile devices to web, we feel that having a strong brand and good content means we will be better placed regardless of the access medium," Dowling added.

The CandyCrib is owned by Go Ape Ltd. Founded in 2005, Go Ape distributes content to more than 40 network operators in 15 different countries. Its founder, Eoin Dowling, is a former director of Red Circle, one of the U.K.'s largest mobile content distribution companies.
