Video Arrives on the iPhone 3GS

SAN FRANCISCO — Once again, Apple turned every head in the tech world as it unleashed the newest version of its decade-defining device: The iPhone 3GS.

Most notable among the new iPhone's features is the ability to shoot video, as well as an amped-up 3-megapixel camera. The camera functions come with a one-touch focus mechanism.

Online reports show that the device also packs far more processing power than its predecessors — and that means one thing: speed.

"That’s what the 'S' really stands for, 'Speed,'" tech analyst MG Siegler said. "Most applications will run at least two times faster, according to Apple. Specifics weren’t given about the processor in the device and the RAM included, but you can bet it’s about double the RAM and a processor that has been bumped significantly."

Another futuristic feature is voice-recognition technology that will let users make calls and plays songs by speaking into their phone. For example, a user can tell their phone to play a song by a certain artist, and the device will obey.

Apple has posted a video tour of the iPhone 3GS on its official website.
