Right Hosting Rolls Out New Content Delivery Network

LOS ANGELES — Right Hosting has unveiled a new content delivery network called Right Lightning.

For the uninitiated, a content delivery network (CDN) is typically an array of high-speed servers optimized for digital media. Users of such networks will often host the nuts and bolts of their site — the HTML or PHP pages, for example — on a basic server, but they'll host their heavier media files on a CDN, which can push the content to end-users much faster.

Right Hosting CTO Caz Thrush promised big things from his company's new CDN.

“Right Lightning is up to 10 times faster than any CDN and 24 times as fast as any normal network," he said. "We have done extensive testing of our new network solution and have been able to accelerate, downloads, video of all kinds, cam networks, static pictures and VPN connections. It is especially effective over distance, obviating the need or expensive and difficult to deploy CDN networks. Also available as part of our offering will be an ultra-high-speed server farm to facilitate server offload.”

All current and new Right Hosting customers can join the CDN immediately. The service requires no new software or hardware.

Company representatives said that they plan to demonstrate their new CDN at the Phoenix Forum, Webmaster Access Los Angeles, the XBIZ Summer Forum in Las Vegas and the summer session of Internext.
