Throat A Cautionary Tale
The light comedy of the 1972 Deep Throat is reimagined as a tragedy. It starts with star Sasha Grey in a morgue getting a post-mortem exam, and we follow homicide detectives Tom Byron and Penny Flame as they investigate her death.

In flashback, Grey takes a gig at a peep show to make college tuition, diddling herself with a dildo to make ends meet. She doesn't like it and she doesn't like having sex with boyfriend Trent Tesoro ("I didn't feel much down there.") but when getting coached for peep show performing she accidentally hits the clitoris in her throat with a dildo.

She becomes the hit of the peep show, and gets into obsessive cocksucking in her personal life. She even reluctantly starts turning tricks, blowing strangers for money. Evan Stone, one of the tricks, hires her away to his club, where she does her dildo act and turns tricks, eventually hooking up with Stone. An exhibition meet between Lee Stone and Grey leads to an epiphany — and the question of her death is answered.

Grey shows off her acting chops here, really giving the impression her clit is in her throat. The challenging script by Raven Touchstone includes subplots and character development. Moody photography by Ralph Parfait adds another layer of depth.
