Actor Kirk Cameron Portrays Porn-Addicted Firefighter in ‘Fireproof’

ATLANTA — An Internet filtering software hopes for a spike in business following pornography addiction being raised as a family problem in a new, church-financed mainstream film.

“Fireproof” is a new drama that takes the viewers into the life of a troubled firefighter starring Kirk Cameron. Porn addiction “is on of many stresses afflicting” Cameron character’s marriage.

The firefighter is headed for divorce when his father gives him a book offering faith-based strategies for repairing his relationship with his wife.

Anticipating the film’s framing of porn addiction as a problem in marriages, InternetSafety.com announced a 30 percent sale on Safe Eyes, its Internet filtering program that automatically blocks millions of sex-related websites to help porn users break the habit.

"The 'Fireproof' message that you can overcome your relationship challenges, whether it's porn addiction or lack of communication, is destined to rescue many marriages" InternetSafety’s CEO Forrest Collier said in a statement.

Safe Eyes comes recommended by addiction ministries Setting Captives Free and XXXChurch, according to the statement.

"Everyone with access to the Internet is either targeted, tempted or in the trenches regarding Internet porn," XXXChurch founder Craig Gross said in the statement. "Safe Eyes provides a practical tool for limiting exposure to sexual content and hopefully curbing one's appetite for it as well. It's a simple idea — see no evil — that helps wean people away from the habit."

Safe Eyes works by blocking access to websites in the pornography, sex, nudity, and tasteless/gross categories by default, and allows additional sites to be blocked by category, URL or keyword. The program screens YouTube videos for sexual content and blocks peer-to-peer file sharing programs.

The program also allows “accountability partners” such as a spouse, friend, pastor or mentor to block Internet access altogether at specific times such as the after-midnight hours, check online usage logs for sex-related website visits, and receive alerts by phone, text message or email when users try to access inappropriate content online.

Users can be prevented from removing the software from their computers by asking InternetSafety.com to scramble their passwords or by splitting passwords with a spouse. The product's website blacklist is updated automatically every day, ensuring that new websites with objectionable content are filtered immediately.
